Emotional King Charles Unveils Stunning Statue of His ‘Beloved’ Mother | He Lauded The Queen's Love For The People

The statue was commissioned to celebrate the late Queen’s platinum jubilee and was completed in August, one month before her death.

King Charles III unveils Queen Elizabeth's first statue at York Minister after her death. The 6ft 7in (2m) sculpture stands decorating the York Minister building, reported Metro. The statue is made from Lepine limestone from France and is said to weigh almost two tonnes. The statue was commissioned to celebrate the late Queen’s platinum jubilee and was completed in August, one month before her death. The sculpture depicts the queen standing and looking down the main approach to the minster and her left hand pulling in her robe to brace against the winds which frequently buffet the west front.

Speaking at the ceremony at York Minster, Charles said, “The late Queen was always vigilant for the welfare of her people during her life. Now her image will watch over what will become Queen Elizabeth Square for centuries to come.”
