8 Months-Pregnant Woman Saves Husband And Daughter's Lives From Armed Intruders Who Opened Fire

The husband and father had no idea who the men were and couldn't think of any reason why his family had been targeted and tormented.

When the lives of her loved ones were on the line, one heavily pregnant woman forgot all about the danger around her and did what she could to save her family. And she did it even though it meant putting herself and her unborn baby's lives at risk.

On October 30, 2019, the woman's husband, Jeremy King found himself in the midst of a horrifying encounter when two armed men barged into his home in Lithia, Florida. "They came in heavily hooded and masked. As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter," Jeremy told Bay News 9.

The husband and father had no idea who the men were and couldn't think of a reason why his family was targeted and tormented.

The encounter quickly took a horrible turn when Jeremy tried to convince the robbers that he had nothing to give them while a gun remained pointed at his head. "I'm telling them, 'I have nothing for you.' (A)nd they’re like, 'Give me everything you got,'" Jeremy recalled.

The intruders started attacking the husband, who said, "It became real violent, real fast."

That's when Jeremy's wife, who was eight months pregnant, heard the commotion and came out from the back bedroom. But when one of the men shot in her direction, she quickly retreated back, only to return armed with an AR-15 rifle to save her family in danger.

"When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him," Jeremy said. The intruders started running away where one "made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out in the front ditch before the AR did its thing." Later, police officials found one of the robbers in a ditch while the other managed to escape.

Speaking about the woman, who legally had a gun in the house, sheriff's spokeswoman Crystal Clark told USA Today, "The woman told deputies she heard a shot fired prior to firing the weapon she had."

At the scene, Maj. Frank Losat, Hillsborough County Sheriff later told reporters, as quoted by NBC News, "Two unknown males broke in and made demands of them. The male victim, who is the homeowner, began to get pistol-whipped and beat up. During that incident, the female homeowner retrieved a firearm, which was in the house legally, and fired one round which struck the male victim that was deceased in the ditch."

Losat added, "We also know this was not a random act. This family was probably targeted."

Without his pregnant wife's bravery, things may have ended in a completely different way for Jeremy and his family. "Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it," said Jeremy. "(My wife) evened the playing field and kept them from killing me."

He was severely bruised during the attack, saying, "I’ve got a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity, a concussion, 20 stitches and three staples in my head. I took a severe beating." However, the family still has each other and will hopefully recover soon from the distressing experience.
