Woman Allegedly Stabbed Mom-to-Be 100 Times Before Trying to Steal Baby From Her Womb

Her alleged motive was to keep her boyfriend around after she couldn't get pregnant after a hysterectomy.

A 29-year-old woman went on trial this week for allegedly murdering her pregnant friend and then stealing the kid from the victim's womb and claiming it as her own. After Reagan Simmons Hancock, 21, was discovered dead in her New Boston home at 10:20 a.m. in 2020, Taylor Rene Parker was arrested in Oklahoma and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and abduction. on October 9, 2020, per PEOPLE

Simmons Hancock was around seven and a half months pregnant when the baby was removed from her womb. Parker was pulled over for speeding by a Texas State Trooper in De Kalb following the alleged attack. She allegedly informed the officer that she had given birth on the side of the road and that the baby was not breathing.

Parker and the infant were both taken to McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. When Parker declined to be examined by doctors, hospital workers became suspicious. The child also died in the hospital. Authorities testified in court that Simmons Hancock was stabbed and sliced more than 100 times, and her head was smashed with a hammer before her unborn baby was removed with a scalpel.

Parker was also charged with non-capital murder in relation to the baby's death. Parker, according to Assistant District Attorney Kelley Crisp, is "an actress of the highest order" who lied about being pregnant for over 10 months. She did that just to keep her boyfriend around, reports New York Post. Crisp claims Parker disguised herself as pregnant, staged ultrasounds, held a gender reveal party, and even posted about her fake pregnancy on social media.

He told the Jury during the trial, "How did we get here? How did it get this far? She is an actress, an actress of the highest order. The lies and fraud go on and on; the layers of fraud are staggering. You are going to have to understand the fraud to understand what happened on Oct. 9. This started months and months ahead of time until it passed the point of no return, and it ended up in homicide."

Parker abandoned Simmons Hancock's 3-year-old daughter with her dying mother after the attack. Crisp told jurors Parker's strategy included a bomb threat to a hospital, which delayed her induction. He added, "Taylor Parker didn't want anymore children. She killed Reagan and ripped her baby out to keep her boyfriend."

According to witnesses, Parker, who was unable to conceive following a hysterectomy, offered $100,000 for a surrogate mother and informed her boyfriend that she would have an induced birth the day of the murder. Jeff Harrelson, one of her attorneys, encouraged the jury to evaluate all of the evidence provided throughout the trial.

He said, "It's a complicated case, factually and emotionally. The law is the lens and filter you must view these facts through. Sometimes it's not black and white but a shade of gray."

If convicted of capital murder, Parker faces the death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of release. Attorneys are expected to offer testimony for at least two weeks.
