Woman Finds A 'Tracker Tile' In Her Handbag After A Night Out, Urges People To Be Careful

What shocked the woman was that she wasn't sure where it had come from and how someone had managed to slip it in

Sheridan Ellis was on her way back home from a friend's birthday dinner when she found something strange in her handbag. It was a tile key fob, the kind that uses Bluetooth to track your keys if you have lost them. What shocked her was that she wasn't sure where it had come from and how someone had managed to slip it in. Ellis thought fast and removed the battery from the tile to stop it from tracking her location. She then took to TikTok, hoping her story might help other targets, the Mirror reported.

Ellis, an artist from Texas, USA, shared her story on the popular platform and said, "Hey, quick storytime/PSA for what it's worth category. This weekend on Saturday I went to dinner with a group of friends for this girl's birthday, if you know me I don't normally carry a purse, but on Saturday I did because we had decorations and stuff for the table. At the end of the night, I'm cleaning my purse out and I find this - if you don't know what this is, it's a tile. It's basically a tracker, people put it on their keys and whatnot. It's not mine, I don't know how it got in my purse. I immediately took the battery out, don't worry but yeah... check your purses and stay safe out there."

Her clip has since gone viral with over 722,000 views. The comment section was filled with users sharing their concerns. "That's an expensive way to stalk someone," one said, while another replied, "OMG! I have pre/teen girls. Thanks for putting this out there. But seriously, how many more things do we have to be aware of?!". A third wrote, "This is so scary!! Please go to the police. There might be someone out there that didn't clean out their purse and find it...". Few users pointed out that the Bluetooth signal was unlikely to have tracked her if the phone it was paired with wasn't in range but that didn't reassure anyone. A user commented in reply to it, saying, "Ignore the people saying don't worry. Even if it didn't work, the fact that someone tried it very scary. I'd see if there are cameras," reported Mirror
