The actress will pay $2.2 million to her ex-husband "in full, final, and complete settlement and satisfaction of any and all claims between them."
It is now final. Valerie Bertinelli is no longer married. After a year of anticipation, the actress's long-awaited divorce is finally official. In a candid clip shared on social media, the Signed, Sealed, Delivered actress revealed that her lawyer had just called to inform her that her divorce from ex-husband Tom Vitale had been finalized. According to PEOPLE, the actress will pay $2.2 million to her ex-husband "in full, final, and complete settlement and satisfaction of any and all claims between them." As per the documents, neither Bertinelli nor Vitale will receive spousal support, as "set forth in the Prenuptial Agreement."

Bertinelli celebrated her divorce on Tuesday by sharing a video of herself at the airport on her way to see her son, 31-year-old musician, Wolfgang Van Halen. "My lawyer just called. All of the paperwork has been signed. They're almost ready to be filed," she stated, adding: "On 11/22/22, I am officially f***ing divorced. Happily divorced. God, finally. It's finally over." She ended the video with an enthusiastic "Yes!" and captioned the post: "11/22/22 second best day of my life."
Six months after filing for legal separation in November 2021, the actress filed for divorce in May this year. At the time, the proceedings were reportedly resolved by a private judge, Hank Goldberg. This included the spousal support and attorney fees issue, as well as the bifurcated Premarital Agreement Validity proceeding. Bertinelli and Vitale did not appear in court.
A month after the Golden Globe winner filed for divorce, Vitale requested to be awarded spousal support. According to documents filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, he also sought to prevent Bertinelli from requesting spousal support and challenge the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
Amid the drawn-out process of the divorce, Bertinelli decided to part ways with some accessories that were significant to the ill-fated marriage. "Dropped a few things off with @therealreal," she captioned a series of photos of two wedding bands and a pair of sleek brown Jimmy Choo strappy heels complete with diamond studs that she wore on their wedding day in 2011. "A couple of Tiffany rings with bad memories attached and a pair of shoes I wore to a wedding in January 2011," she added. "They should be up in a couple of weeks!"
The couple tied the knot at their cliff-side Malibu home on New Year's Day in 2011 in front of 100 guests, surprising them with a wedding ceremony when they arrived. "We're so happy!" Bertinelli said at the time. "I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband,'" the Hot in Cleveland shared previously. "I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love."
