US Becomes Country With HIGHEST Number Of Confirmed Coronavirus Cases In The World, Surpassing China AND Italy

Health experts are urging people to remain home and practice social distancing.

Coronavirus outbreak is affecting countries across the world. According to the BBC, the United States of America has the largest number of confirmed cases in the world.

The data collected by the Johns Hopkins University stated that at least 85,996 Americans have been infected by the deadly virus. Based on these numbers, the country has surpassed China with 81,782 and Italy with 80,589 confirmed cases.

According to the New York Post, a major part of the affected population is in the city of New York. At least 37,258 were tested positive and 385 people have lost their lives to the virus. The local health departments stated that New Jersey, California, Michigan, and Washington had 6,876, 3,894, 2,856 and 2,580 cases respectively.

With the numbers rising, the country's expectation to re-open by 12 April 2020 may not be possible. The government was expecting to ease restrictions on Easter Sunday. "I think what the president was trying to do, he was making an aspirational projection to give people some hope. But he's listening to us when we say we've got to reevaluate in real-time and any decision we have to make has to be based on the data," said Dr. Fauci, one of the top infectious disease doctors in the country, according to CBS News.

Meanwhile, health experts across the country have urged people to take the precautionary steps to fight the virus.  With rising cases and low hospital supplies, they have asked all Americans to main social distancing and remain at home.

"We are scared. We are stressed. And we're worried about what comes next and about our ability to take care of our patients and our communities. As well as our ability to take care of ourselves," stated Dr. Megan Ranney, an emergency room physician at Brown University, according to CBS News. She added, "My hospital, like every other hospital across the country, has day by day seen dramatic increases in the number of patients with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. We are also seeing dropping numbers of supplies. A lot of the supplies that were intended for hospitals like mine have been diverted to New York."

"So the first and biggest thing that people at home can do is truly to stay home. I know how difficult social distancing is. But if you stay home, you can stop the spread of this virus and allow us in healthcare to better help you," stated the health expert.

As per the latest data by the World Health Organization, 465,915 people are infected from across the world and 21,031 have died from the illness.
