Tom Hanks announced the news through social media. The couple's son stated that they were doing fine.

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed with coronavirus. The Forrest Gump actor took to Instagram to issue an official statement to the world. "Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive," wrote the actor.

He further went on to say that they would be following the medical protocols and keeping themselves quarantined until proven free of risk. "Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?" continued the 63-year-old actor. He concluded the post by saying that he would keep everyone posted on the updates.

"We'll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!" wrote the actor. The couple was in Australia for the untitled Elvis Presley movie produced by Warner Bros., according to Telegraph.

Meanwhile, the couple's son, Chet took to Instagram to give an assurance that his parents were doing fine. He wrote, "Yeah, it's true. My parents got Coronavirus. Crazy. They're both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there but I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine, they're not even that sick."

The 29-year-old stated that parents were not worried about the illness but had taken precautionary measures. In light of the event, Warner Bros. too released a statement. "We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for Covid-19," stated Warner Bros, according to Telegraph.

They also said they would work closely with medical officials to ensure the safety of their staff. "We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world," stated the studio. However, they did not mention Hanks in the statement. According to Variety, Hanks and his wife are so far the only ones tested positive.
