Toddler Hugs Pizza Delivery Guy Not Knowing That He'd Just Lost His Own Daughter: "It Was Like She Was There"

The two-year-old's mom called her son's hug a "blessing from God."

Sometimes the smallest of gestures can have the deepest effect on a person. And when it comes from an innocent child, there's something about it that makes it even more special. When a man went about his day delivering pizzas, he didn't know a two-year-old was about to touch his heart.  Ryan Catterson dropped by Lindsey Sheely's Rhode Island home to deliver a pizza she had ordered. The doorbell camera caught a sweet moment between the two. When Catterson was about to leave after making the delivery, Sheely's young son Cohen chased after him and gave him a hug.

Catterson reciprocated the love by bending down and hugging the toddler right back. After the endearing moment, mom Sheeley came in to bring her son back inside. The 2-year-old was so full of love that he kept blowing kisses as Catterson walked back to his vehicle. "Enjoy your pizza!" Catterson is heard saying in the video. Lindsey decided to share the sweet interaction on social media to give others a laugh and "warm your hearts." But there was more to the encounter.

She wrote: Last night when we got our pizza (and ranch) delivered, Cohen ran out to hug the delivery guy and tried to give him a kiss, too! We thought it was so sweet and funny, then realized that our doorbell might have caught the interaction on camera, and it did!! I hope it gives you a laugh and warms your heart like it did for us. Even better, is that I posted this to my IG stories last night and somehow, it found it’s way to the man who delivered our pizza! Thank you, Ryan, for being so sweet with our little guy! Update: little did we know what Cohen’s hug to this stranger would mean. Someone showed Ryan the video I posted to my IG, so he messaged me, and I found him on FB so he could share the video. Through this, we found out that Ryan unexpectedly lost his daughter recently, and that hug from Cohen was a little blessing from God. I believe in divine appointments and know that Ryan was the one to deliver our pizza for a reason. Sheely learned that Catterson's 16-year-old daughter died suddenly the previous week. Catterson told WLNE-TV, as per WPVI-TV that the hug meant a lot to him. "After losing my daughter this past week, it touched me because it was like she was there," he said. "It really just meant a lot to me."

The toddler's sweet gesture melted hearts. One person commented: Love this video , children see so much more than adults. Another shared: This touched my heart immensely. I lost a baby boy in 1993. My daughter passed away in March 2015 and I lost a stepson in December 2015. My heart goes out to Ryan and his ex-wife. My thoughts and prayers go out to them, family and friends. A third pointed out: Touched me...There are still goodness and loving people in this world. May God bless you and yours family forever.
