The best things in life happen unexpectedly. Ted Danson met the love of his life, Mary Steenburgen when he was still struggling to move on from his old relationships. However, their union unfolded into a beautiful story of love and commitment.
Years later, the couple met again in 1993 for the film Pontiac Moon. Unlike last time, things were different. Both of them "sworn off relationships" after their share of heartbreaks. Danson had just ended his very public relationship with talk show host Whoopi Goldberg. Besides, he was also going through a divorce from his second wife, Casey Coates.

Steenburgen, on the other hand, had just parted ways with her husband, actor Malcolm McDowell. Moreover, she had to focus on her kids, Charlie and Lilly, who were very young at the time.

Steenburgen thought Danson was just a "complicated" man. Despite, these thoughts, they were drawn to each other. But like Danson, Steenburgen was also not ready to commit to a relationship.
"We both said the same phrase to ourselves, which was: 'Obviously we cannot be in a relationship,'"I could ruin anything. I'm not relationship material," said Danson, according to People.

So, the couple continued to remain co-actors and friends.
"We just kept working together and becoming better and better friends," said the actress. Eventually, they reached a point where they could no longer discard their love for each other.
Danson planned a canoe trip and picnic in Mendocino, California for the couple. After the time they spent with each other, they knew they were in love.

"It was very magical. We came back in love, to be honest, or I'll say smitten," said Danson. Soon, the couple tied the knot and decided to be beside each other forever.

It has been 25 years since the couple exchanged vows. Even today, their love remains fresh and young. "I’m madly in love with Mary Steenburgen. She’s a remarkable human being, so I’m just incredibly blessed. If I were to die, I can say, I know what it’s like to be loved and to love," said Danson to US Weekly.
Steenburgen too has similar words of admiration and love for her partner. “I’m ridiculously in love with him. I find him endlessly fascinating. He surprises me all the time and most of all he makes me laugh," according to Goalcast. She added, "[Our love] just gets more profound and deeper as we go through the blessings and joys, but also the hurdles, of life together. He is my partner in the deepest sense of the word in this life," she said, according to People.
