Losing a parent you have loved with all your heart is something that will never be easy. Though we try to hold back our tears and grief, there will be a point when the pain becomes so intense that we reach a breaking point. America's Got Talent judge, Simon Cowell known for his brutally honest comments remained tight-lipped when he lost his mother, Julie Brett. However, he could not bury his pain for long.

The 60-year-old shared a close bond with his mother, who was a socialite and ballet dancer. When he lost her in 2015 at the age of 89, the reality mogul was heartbroken. However, despite the grief, he decided to go back to work just days after her death. Moreover, he knew his mother would have wanted him to do the same.

"I thought about it long and hard. I gave myself two or three days. I know it sounds like a cliché, but having such a strong bond with my mum meant I knew exactly what she'd have said," said Cowell to Express. He continued, "It would have been, 'This is your show, you love the show, go back and do your job'. She was a former dancer, very much 'the show must go on'. I think she'd have been disappointed if I'd said 'I'm not going to do it'."

He said, "It was quite near when it all happened and I think it was the last audition and I wasn't really expecting what happened. And of course, the lyric of the song and it was quite difficult because I thought, 'God this is going to be really hard to sit through this'."
