Will they be able to recreate the magic 17 years later?
It's actually happening!!! Sarah Jessica Parker is all set to return to hit the small screen as Carrier Bradshaw in a Sex and The City revival for HBO Max. She, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis posted on social media to confirm the news. The stars dropped a few hints back in December but nothing was format at that time. “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now? X, SJ,” Parker wrote on Instagram along with the hashtags #AndJustLikeThat and #SATCNextChapter.
The Deadline reported that HBO max has confirmed the revival titled "And Just Like That..." to be a 10-episode limited series for the streamer rather than the linear HBO network. It will also see Michael Patrick King, who had already directed many of its original episodes and the feature films, return as an exec producer for the series.
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max said.
However, the series that will see Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis bring alive the besties Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York, respectively, will not be joined by Kim Cattrall who played the notoriously charming Samantha Jones. Many fans are aware of the rift Cattrall felt with the others, especially with Parker. While there were Tweets shared in the past where Cattrall has voiced her views on the bias she faced on the show, there is no comment from her on her absence in the revival show. That didn't stop fans from forming theories of their own on how disliked Cattral felt on the set by the lead star.
Parker was quick to clear the air when a fan commented that Parker and Cattrall dislike each other, reports Yahoo Entertainment. She replied to the fan saying, "No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would,” she further wrote, “Samantha isnt [sic] part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do."
Fans were also eager to know about Mr. Big. “This is insane. My favorite girls will be back. But wait, what about Mr. Big?” a fan asked in the comment section of the new trailer Parker shared on Instagram to which she coyly replied, "Wait and see,” reported the USMagazine.
At the end of the second Sex and The City movie, Big played by Chris Noth gifts Carrie an even bigger engagement ring and it seemed to be a happily ever after for the two.
