Ricky Martin & His Husband Have 4 Kids Together| Once He Thought He'd Never Be A Dad, Now He Dreams Of Bigger Family

Ricky Martin welcomed two children in 2019. He and his partner are beyond happy to have them.

Being a parent is a dream for many. Famous singer and performer Ricky Martin had such a dream. Though he thought his sexual orientation would make it impossible for him to be a dad, fate was in his favor.

According to The Roanoke Times, Martin went through a "grieving process" because he never imagined he would be fortunate to be a dad. "Many years I dreamt of being a father, and many, many, many times I went through this grieving process of I am gay, I am a closeted gay man, and I'm not going to be able to be a daddy," said the singer.

He further added, "Obviously adoption is an option and it's very beautiful, but unfortunately for gay men, it's very difficult to adopt in some countries."

However, with the fortunate unfolding of events, Martin became a father to four kids. In 2019, he along with his husband, Jwan Yosef welcomed their daughter Lucia Martin-Yosef. The couple posted an adorable picture of him holding his baby's tiny hands. "We are beyond happy to announce that we have become parents to a beautiful and healthy baby girl, Lucia Martin-Yosef," stated the caption, according to Daily Mail.

The singer further said, "It has been a special time for us and we can't wait to see where this stellar baby will take us. Both her beautiful brothers and me and Ricky have fallen in love with Lucia. This has undoubtedly been a unique birthday and celebration of Christmas in our lives."

He added, "Both her brothers and Jwan and I are completely in love with our baby and grateful to be able to start this 2019 with the best gift we could receive, the gift of life." He later welcomed his fourth child, Renn Martin-Yosef in October 2019.

Martin's happiness is no surprise as he has been very vocal about wanting a large family.

"I want four more pairs of twins. I would love to have a big family, but there’s a lot going on at this moment, a lot of work, wedding," said Martin, according to People while attending the Golden Globes in January 2019. He added, "It’s a lot going on so we’re going to put things in order first, and then we are going to get ready for many more kids."

Often seen speaking of his kids in interviews, Martin is open about how much he enjoys being around them. Moreover, he believes they are his biggest critics.

Referring to his eldest twins, Martin told People, "Wow. It’s as raw and honest as you can receive from an 8-year-old. They go, 'Dad, that movement I don’t like. Dad, that song, you gotta change it,' and they bring good points. I tell them, 'Son, that’s something that I will consider.'"

Though his kids didn't initially know how big of a star their father was, he made it known to them once he felt they were old enough to know it. While his kids got excited knowing that their father is a star, he reassured them and said he was their father first.

Livin' La Vida Loca singer also hopes to become a grandfather one day. Thinking of the future, he stated that he would love to see a lot of grandchildren. "I would love to have many grandkids in the future and have every Sunday filled with family but, you know, we have to see what happens. There's moments where I want 10 more, and then there are those mornings where everybody's crying and I'm like, 'OK, maybe we're fine at six,'" said the singer, according to The Roanoke Times.
