Mathew McConaughey loves his wife of 8 years and cherishes every moment with her.

The desire to get married comes to you when you know you're ready for a commitment with your partner, who you love. However, the journey of marriage can be tough, and sometimes it may end in a split or divorce. Matthew McConaughey wanted to do it right when he fell in love. He didn't just jump into a marriage because of the romance he found in Camila Alves. Talking to GQ, the actor revealed how he decided to tie the knot.

"I had to get to the point where I saw [getting married] as more than just the thing to do. I wanted to really want to. You know, I didn't want it to be a destination; the fun is that we're on the adventure together," said the actor, according to Women's Health Magazine.  He wanted his life with Camila to be a journey and not a short term destination. So the couple did some soul searching before signing up to be with each other forever.

"[Camila and I] talked about it spiritually. We did a lot of reading and talked to a lot of people that had been divorced, a lot of people that had been happily married. We talked to our pastor. In the end, our understanding was, 'Let's go make a covenant, with you, me, and God,'" said the actor, according to Women's Health. So, in 2012, the actor tied the knot to his beautiful Brazilian wife, Camila. Ever since, Matthew has been enjoying the fruits of married life.

He admits that he is crazy in love with her and that he wants nothing to change that. "I have been very faithful with my wife, very selfishly. I like being under her spell. I don't want to break that spell," said Matthew to Daily Mail.

Eight years after their marriage, the couple shares three children, Levi, Vida, and Livingston and is known to be one of the most admired couples from the Entertainment world. The couple still keeps the sparks alive by doing simple things. "We cook together. Even if I’m running late from work I say, ‘We’re having a late dinner,’” Camila Alves said. “Does it happen every single day of the week? No, but it happens a lot," according to US Weekly.

Meanwhile, Matthew said that his wife loves it when he gives her something as simple as a handwritten note. "I don’t have a certain thing I buy her. An earnest handwritten note, that she knows I sat down and took some time and has some poetry to it, that’s worth more than whatever retail I paid for something," said the actor, according to Today.

Apart from that, he enjoys his role as a parent. Speaking of fatherhood, Matthew said, "It's the one thing I've always wanted to be. I knew when I was 8 years old. I mean, I wanted to be things like the Washington Redskins running back and all that stuff, but the one thing I knew I wanted to be was a father. I've always revered that as the greatest thing a man can do, be a father. It's the greatest privilege and the greatest responsibility," according to iol. He even added, "Never is a man more of a man than when he is the father of a newborn."

The actor also revealed that he shares the single most important thing every couple needs to make a marriage work - they make a great team. They also manage to outwit the kids when they try childish tactics. "My wife and I have a similar moral bottom line. When kids try to good cop, bad cop ya, we’re on the same page. If they try to play us, we give the same answer. We also have a lot of fun. We can shape them, but they are who they are,” stated the actor, according to Today.

Undoubtedly,  Matthew found the woman of his heart. He met Camila in 2006 when he was having margaritas at a club with his friends. Though Camila was instantly attracted to the actor, he was determined to go out with her. Soon, the star aligned and the two fell in love.
