Rachel Weisz Reveals How The Right Man Can Take You From Not Wanting To Settle To "I Love Being Mrs. Craig"

Rachel Weisz calls the decision of getting married to Daniel Craig her mature moment.

Meeting the right person is magical. It changes the way you look at life and leaves you feeling most comfortable and satisfied. You rethink your choices, your once fixed plans and you might even want to do try new things. Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz went through this. She never thought she would settle down but meeting Daniel Craig changed her life.

Married for about 9 years, Weisz says, "But I never thought I would get married. It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies – marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment," said the actress to Metro. However, it did not happen overnight.

Before diving into the sea of romance, the couple was friends. They had known each other for years and love was unexplored territory. They had their own share of relationships and shared a bond of friendship until 2010.

The two friends got cast in the movie, Dream House and that was the beginning of their love. Onscreen chemistry mesmerized the public but the couple gave no hints if it would soon translate it in an off-screen romance.

In January 2011, they shocked the world by secretly getting married. Though there were speculations before the wedding, the couple gave no space for it to be proved accurate. Weisz believes her decision to settle down with her friend was one of her mature moments. As their love blossomed, the actress saw herself wanting the things she never yearned for. "I’m very happy being married, very, very happy... I love being Mrs. Craig... I’m Mrs. Craig on my checkbooks and passports and things," said the proud wife, according to The Sun.

And then in 2018, they had their first child together. She was excited and couldn't wait to raise a family with Craig.

"Daniel and I are so happy. We’re going to have a little human. We can’t wait to meet him or her. It’s all such a mystery," said the actress during the time, according to Marie Claire. The actress, who has one son from her previous relationship, had not planned to become a mother again but falling in love with Craig changed everything for her.

"But the preciousness of a new life and family means so much more now I’m more mature and older," she added, according to Marie Claire. She stated that their daughter looked more like her husband.

The family is mostly private and Weisz believes it is better to keep it that way, especially for their marriage. "He's just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage. When you're young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything. When you're married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you're in your own life," said Weisz to Marie Claire.

Because of their love for privacy, Weisz, and Craig mostly share a lot of time at home. For them, home is a safe space, where there are no cameras or work discussions. Talking about their time at home, the actress said that she and her husband share a mutual love for cooking. "I love to cook. Daniel is also very good at it. We always enjoy trying out different kinds of cuisine and having fun with that," said the mother to The Sun. "There is nothing worse than two actors getting together and talking about acting. It’s like the end — it’s the worst," she added.

The couple tries to draw a clear boundary between professional and personal life. They focus on keeping their romance alive and sharing as much time with each other as possible.
