The royal siblings have been on a rough patch lately. Sources say that the brothers are on different paths.
The recent events in the British royal household have caused quite a stir across the globe. Although Prince Harry and Prince William haven't made any public statements of each other, the way things have unraveled under the public eye indicates underlying tension between the royal siblings. Harry's decision to step down as a senior member of the royal family and move away from England came as a shock to the world and is likely to have sparked some stress with his elder brother as well.
According to People, sources stated that it will majorly affect the dynamics shared by Prince Harry and Prince William. The source also stated that their relationship was "forever changed." "They won’t get back to the way they were. Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family," according to People.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's appearance at their last royal engagement at the annual Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey said much about the changing dynamics within the family, according to People.
While Prince Harry and Meghan appeared cheerful, even gently grooving to the music, the rest of the family looked rather serious. The Duchess of Cambridge avoided eye contact with Harry and Meghan, while Prince William gave a short "hello" before he took his seat. Throughout the event, the brothers seemed distant. Fans of Princess Diana will sure miss the warmth and camaraderie her sons shared throughout their lives up until now.
While William along with Kate sat in the first row, Prince Harry sat in the second row along with Meghan, his uncle, Prince Edward, and his wife. The brothers and their wives did not exchange any conversation even while waiting for the Queen to arrive.
What was more painful was the fact that even when they left the service, the brothers barely looked at each other and they left without saying goodbye. Considering this was the last royal tour for Harry who will soon left with Meghan to Canada, it was hard for royal fans to accept this distance between them. “They are on different paths now. It’s just the reality of the situation,” said a source, according to People.
However, according to People, the differences between the two siblings started when Harry began moving fast in his relationship with Meghan Markle. An insider stated that the Duke of Cambridge cautioned his brother that he was moving fast with the relationship. Harry, on the other hand, was not happy with his brother's concern.
Prince William and Harry lost their mother when they were just 15 and 12, respectively. Veteran royal biographer, Ingrid Seward who was close to the princess stated, "One thing Diana said was, ‘Please, whatever happens, remember you always have each other, and I want you always to stick together.’ And clearly that can’t happen for a long time," reports People.
According to Independent, Harry and Meghan Markle will shut down their Buckingham Palace office on 31 March 2020. They will split their time between the UK and Canada. While things do look bleak between the brothers, we know that being the beloved sons of Diana, they will get back to being the brothers they always were—kind, warm, spirited, and loyal.
