Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Remember Their Mothers & Share A Powerful Note As They Relaunch Archewell Website

The couple relaunched the website of their non-profit, Archewell.

Prince Harry and Megha Markle ended the year 2020 on an emotional note. The couple penned a personal letter on the relaunched website of their non-profit, Archewell, for the new year.

According to People, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote, "I am my mother’s son. And I am our son’s mother. Together we bring you Archewell." The "Letter for 2021" further stated, "We believe in the best of humanity. Because we have seen the best of humanity. We have experienced compassion and kindness, from our mothers and strangers alike."

They concluded the letter by saying, "In the face of fear, struggle and pain, it can be easy to lose sight of this. Together, we can choose to put compassion in action. We invite you to join us as we work to build a better world, one act of compassion at a time,” they concluded the letter along with their signed signatures — "Harry & Meghan."

The duo also shared childhood pictures of them with their mothers on the homepage of their website. The picture of Harry showed him sitting on the shoulders of his late mother, Princess Diana. Meghan's picture captured her enjoying a warm moment with her mother, Doria Ragland.

Apart from the moving words and throwback pictures, the couple took the new year as an opportunity to announce their new partnerships. The non-profit that was initially launched in October 2020 will be collaborating with several tech- and research-focused groups such as the Center for Humane Technology and the UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry and Stanford University's Dr. James Doty.

“Founded earlier this year by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell uplifts communities through non-profit partnerships and creative activations. It’s a place where compassion matters, communities gather, and storytelling is the engine. The website has been updated to reflect the work Archewell has undertaken throughout 2020 and to create a place for people and communities around the world to share their stories," said Toya Holness, the Press Secretary for Archewell.

The couple updated the website just a few days after they shared their first podcast from Archewell audio on Spotify.

Meghan and Harry announced the launch of their foundation after they stepped down as senior members of the royal family in March, 2020. At the time, they stated, "We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right."

Harry, who has taken after his mom, values people over protocol, genuine friendships over fame, and kindness over kingship. Much like the late Princess of Wales, Diana, he is fearless in following his heart and diving right into action to make a change at the micro and macro level of communities. From being a coy princess, she went on to walk minefields in Africa to bring the global spotlight on the hazards of mining. From being the most photographed woman to the most iconic fashionista, she broke many myths by shaking hands with HIV patients. She showed the world that a princess needn't be tied to the palace, but can and should connect to the people, earning her beloved title "The People's Princess."

And Meghan definitely inherits her feisty spirit, fearlessness, and compassion from her mom, who never fit into any social molds expected of her back in her days. Despite being bullied and mocked, she remained focused on the mission at hand—to make a real difference to individuals and groups that can thrive with the right support. Together, the two have come together not as children of the two spirited women, but also parents of Archie, their son, and as creators of a better world for the future generation.

I am my mother's son. And I am my son's mother...We believe in the best of humanity.

Amen to that.
