The mother "suddenly became unresponsive" while having her coffee. The attempts to save her life were in vain.
A pregnant mother of four looked forward to a joyful Christmas with her family. Unfortunately, fate was unkind to her and her dear ones.
According to ET, popular homeschooling blogger, Emily Mitchell died on 22 December 2020. The unexpected death shocked her family and her online community.
"Our dear Emily and her precious unborn baby left us unexpectedly in the morning of December 22, 2020. Our hearts are broken and her joyful presence will be greatly missed by so many. Em made a big impact on so many people’s lives, and this loss is incomprehensible for anyone who knew her. Our friend was a dedicated mom and wife, she had a heart for the Lord, and loved her children so dearly," said the grieving family in a statement, according to ET.
Though the cause of her death was not revealed at the time, a GoFund Me Page started to support her family stated the reason for her sudden demise. "Thank you also for respecting our privacy as we adjust to life without Mom. A few days ago we learned from the state Medical Examiners Office that the official cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. Although it is challenging to wrap our heads around how this could have happened, we know all first responders and medical personnel did everything they could to help, and therefore we are certain that it was simply her time; the Lord was calling her home," wrote the family on the fundraiser page.
According to Mayo Clinic, a pulmonary embolism is caused due to blood clots that result in blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs.
Further, the family recalled that Emily "suddenly became unresponsive" in the morning while she was having her coffee and toast. Though their husband and the medical staff tried to resuscitate her, it was all in vain.
The blogger is survived by her husband, Joe, and their four children, Finn, Isla, Edie, and Lulu.
In the days leading to her death, Emily was excited about the birth of her fifth child. In her last post, the blogger told followers that she was all set for her fifth C-section.
The mother wrote, "However your baby gets here, just know YOUR EXPERIENCE is valid and worthy. YOU are no less a mother if you needed emergency medical intervention, had a planned c-section, or an epidural. You aren’t a ‘better’ mother if you had a home birth or an unmedicated vaginal birth. And if you grew your brood through adoption or surrogacy or family blending? Those are YOUR babies and YOU SIT PROUDLY at the table of motherhood."
Neither did she or her family think she would be gone before being a mother again. Emily blogged about homeschooling her kids through her website, The Hidden Way. Though she is no more, her family hopes to continue homeschooling the kids.
