Phil Collins and Orianne Cevey parted ways in 2008 but got back together in 2016. They said they fell in love again.
Marriage is a bond that will only thrive if the partners involved are committed to each other. A trust once broken is gone forever and rebuilding it is a task in itself. Famous singer Phil Collins was left devastated and betrayed by his ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, who got married behind his back.
According to TMZ, Cevey who was in a relationship with the singer despite their bitter divorce in 2008, told him she was going on a business trip to Las Vegas. However, in reality, the 46-year-old went to her destination wedding where she tied the knot with 31-year-old Thomas Bates.
The news of the cheating came as a shocker to Collins. He thought his new chapter with Cevey was going well but to his surprise, it was just going downhill. "This came totally out of the blue for him. Up until he found out she had got married to someone else, he was still in a relationship with Orianne and they were living together in Miami," said an insider, according to The Sun.
Deeply distressed by the Cevey's infidelity, Collins could not stay in the country. A source stated, "Then Phil found out that she had secretly got married. He left the US in the first week of September. He just wanted to get away. He said, ‘I’m done with this.'” The source also stated that the incident came to light after Cevey made "back and forth" trips to L.A. claiming she was doing "jewelry business."
In addition to cheating on the singer and songwriter, the woman also changed the security codes to his Miami mansion and started living there with her new husband. As a result, Collins had to issue an eviction notice. He asked her to vacate his mansion by October 16, 2020.
However, Cevey is not willing to give up on the residence that easily. “We will deal with Mr. Collins in the courthouse, not the gossip column," said her lawyer, according to The Sun. She reportedly asked Collins to renegotiate their divorce terms and even threatened to release “false and embarrassing” accusations against him.
The failure of their second relationship comes after the couple rekindled it in 2016. Collins and his ex-wife proclaimed they were once again in love with each other.
"It’s different this time. When you first fall in love there is passion and excitement. But the second time around it’s more thoughtful, more mature," said Cevey at the time, according to The Daily Mail. She stated it was normal for people to make mistakes and said it was important to correct it if they got another chance.
"Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes you don’t realize you’ve made a mistake until it’s too late. If you have a chance to go back and correct a mistake, as we have been lucky enough to do, that’s a wonderful gift," said Cevey. She further stated that she never stopped loving Collins despite their ugly divorce battle.
"I now call Phil my husband again. We are so close that it does not actually make a difference if we are married or not, but we are determined to get married for a second time one day. He is indeed the man of my life," said Cevey.
Though it looked like a fresh start for the two, their relationship toppled down once again. Collins first met Cevey in 1994 after she was hired as his translator during his European tour. The artist instantly fell in love with her. Sparks flew and it culminated in a wedding. Just months after their big ceremony in 1999, the couple began to clash. However, they stayed together and they were blessed with two sons.
But as years progressed, the gap between the couple widened and they parted ways.
