Owen Wilson believes he is not the father but the paternity tests prove otherwise.
Every child deserves to be loved and cared for by their parents. However, not all parents do their responsibilities right. They might not be ready to embrace parenthood but that cannot be an excuse for abandoning their child. Owen Wilson, the Hollywood star refused to make his daughter a part of his life. Though he pays for her upbringing, the actor is not involved in her life.
Lyla Aranya Wilson was born on 9 October 2018. Her mother, Varunie Vongsvirates was Wilson's on and off lover. However, when she was born the actor rejected her because he did not believe the girl was his blood. Despite Vongsvirates begging him to engage with his kid, he never made the effort to meet her.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the heartbroken mother spoke of how the little girl was missing on having her father around. "Owen has never met Lyla. Never. He helps financially but it’s never been about that. Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he's playing a father in his new movie, and he's never met his own daughter," said the 36-year-old.
Vongsvirates claimed that Wilson was disappointed and even changed his number as soon as he came to know they were having a baby. "When Varunie told Owen she was pregnant, he was not happy about it, and that was the last time they ever spoke," said a source to Daily Mail. Knowing that Wilson was not convinced about his fatherhood, the woman even conducted a paternity test.
Though the test was positive, he refused to take on the role of a parent. So, Vongsvirates delivered her baby alone. She wanted to honor her grandfather's dad and so gave her the middle name, Aranya. "My sweet little princess 💝 Lyla Aranya Wilson, born on 10-09-18," wrote the woman on Instagram with an adorable picture of the newborn.
Meanwhile, sources close to the actor stated that he was "excited" about the baby but still had his doubts if she was his blood. A source stated, "If a paternity test establishes that [Wilson] is the father of another child, he will fulfill all of his obligations to support his child," according to People. As an obligation, the actor pays $25,000 per month for his child's care.
In addition, he also paid a one-off $70,000 to cover the charges relating to a night nurse, labor coach, and her legal fees for the paternity petition filed in May 2018, according to the Daily Mail. In response to the petition, in July 2018, the actor stated he did not want any visitation rights and even claimed he was "not certain if he is the parent."
However, Wilson has not been an inconsiderate parent to all his kids. The actor has two sons and is often seen speaking proudly of them. He fathered his son, Robert in 2011 with his then-girlfriend, Jade Duell. He went on to have his second son, Finn with his fitness trainer, Caroline Lindqvist.
"It's unbelievable. I mean, anything Ford (he calls Robert by his middle name) says is just, like, the funniest thing ever, and I can make and joke and it's, like, crickets. It's like nothing from those guys... I'm already sort of seeing how they're gonna be as teenagers, where they're gonna be sort of be ganging up on me," said the 51-year-old during an episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show.
Seeing Wilson talk fondly about his boys breaks Vongsvirates's heart. She hopes one day he would do the same for his little girl. Moreover, growing up with a single parent, she knows what her daughter will be missing out on. "Varunie’s mother passed away when she was still kind of young and impressionable. She knows what it’s like to grow up with one parent. She doesn’t want that to happen to her daughter," said a source, according to Radar Online.
She only has one request to Wilson and that is to visit their baby girl. When asked about her message to her ex, the woman said, "You should see your daughter, she's incredible, you're really missing out. She looks just like you," according to Daily Mail.
