Olivia Newton-John has been hit by cancer a third time and the actress is all positive because she believes she can beat it along with her husband who is her biggest support.
Olivia Newton-John began her battle with cancer decades ago. Over and over again, she was hit by the same illness, but it could not vanish her smile. While she braved through these tough times, her husband John Easterling stood by her side helping her take one step at a time.
Olivia had gone through her share of failed relationships before she met a rain forest advocate and businessman, John Easterling. The duo, who fell in love during traveling, did not wait to tie the knot. They married in a private ceremony in 2008, and have been for each other ever since. "I’m very lucky I have a wonderful, beautiful husband who is just so loving and fantastic. I always tell my friends you’re never too old to find love. I found the love of my life at 59 going on 60! I’m grateful,” said Olivia about finding her true love.
The couple, however, did not know that the days ahead of them would be challenging. Olivia was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 after her first diagnosis in 1992. She had already been through nine months of chemotherapy and breast removal surgery along with her challenging personal life.
However, when cancer hit her in 2013, she was not alone.
Though she decided not to talk about it to the media and fought it privately, she had her husband by her side this time. “I thought, ‘It’s my life,’ and I just decided to keep it to myself,” said the actress. However, it returned a third time. Olivia who is still battling Stage 4 cancer also suffered a fractured pelvis, that is caused due to the weakening of bones because of cancer.
In her new memoir Don’t Stop Believin', the Australian star told her fans how she spent her 70th birthday in a hospital undergoing radiation. “There were all these things I was going to do for my birthday. But God had other plans,” told the actress. While she went through intense pain and agony with her bright smile, her husband supported and cared for her. “Of course I had my moments, and my tears and all that. But I have a wonderful husband who supports me through those things,” said Olivia to People.
Apart from supporting her emotionally, John who is a natural health entrepreneur makes sure that she takes legally-grown medical marijuana and other cannabis products to ease the pain. “My husband hands me all these herbs every morning and makes me green algae drink. He grows the plants and makes them into a liquid for me. I take drops maybe four to five times a day,” said the 70-year-old to People. Olivia credits her husband for giving her strength and for making her feel better.
Her husband who loves her dearly believes that she can overcome the illness, the third time. “We both have the same unshakable belief that she’s going to have a wonderful success story. We’re not trying to be positive. We have an absolute knowingness that we can turn this around,” said her husband.
While Olivia is surely a woman of great strength and positivity, she is lucky to have a man who is truly devoted to her even when she is down in pain.
