Over the years society has set up a myriad of unrealistic and unattainable beauty standards that pressurize people to look a certain way. This presents many challenges for people who are born into this world with unique features that aren't considered conventionally attractive. Although recent years have seen people speaking out against such standards and opening their hearts to see the beauty in everyone, the toxic and unhealthy effects of these ideals continue to be felt by many. A few years ago, one mother set out to experience firsthand how the world looks at her son who was born with a Congenital birthmark on his face.
When Enzo was born with a birthmark on his face, his parents were captivated by his beauty. The doctors and everyone else, however, thought there was something wrong with the little boy, Bored Panda reports. Carolina, his mother, first realized something was different about her son when the doctors who delivered her baby looked "frightened." The Giraldelli family was informed that Enzo has Congenital Melanocytic Nevi, a harmless condition that causes an excess of melanocytes in a patch of skin, resulting in a dark appearance. However, while everyone else tried to adjust to this fact, Enzo's parents decided from the start that they would do everything they could to embrace their beautiful son's unique features.
They were well aware that he would face numerous challenges in life as a result of his birthmark and began to prepare for it. "Even though it is not easy, my husband and I act normally, and we will always show him as he is," said Carolina, adding that it was initially extremely difficult to see people give her son "looks of pity, contempt, fear, and sometimes disgust."

A few years ago, Carolina decided to commemorate Mother's Day in a manner as remarkable as her child. To celebrate her little boy's uniqueness, she had a make-up artist recreate his birthmark on her face.

"When I got home, Enzo's reaction was a complete joy—even though he did not completely understand it," said Carolina. She wore makeup all day to truly understand the prejudice her child faces on a daily basis. Recalling her experience with the mark on her face she said: "Several people looked at me with many different looks, but I was very calm because I felt like the proudest mother in the world."

To make sure Enzo doesn't feel he is different in a negative way, his doting family makes it a point to appreciate his beauty on a daily basis and assures him that his individuality does not make him any less loved than other children. This kind of encouragement and appreciation allows Enzo to be extremely confident and unafraid of his skin condition.
