Mom Shattered By Death Of Husband & Kids Broke Down In Tears At Their Funeral Saying "They Were The Best Of Me"

Loretta Traynor's brother who attacked the family died of a self-inflicted wound.

One woman had to go through the misery of witnessing her family's death when she dreamt of a lifetime of happiness with them by her side.

According to CTV News, Loretta Traynor's family was attacked at their home in Oshawa, Ontario on September 4, 2020. The intruder identified as 48-year-old Mitchell Lapa shot and killed Loretta's husband, 51-year-old Chris, and children, 20-year-old Bradley, 15-year-old Adelaide, and 11-year-old Joey.

Loretta survived the attack who is also a relative of the family. Her eldest son Sam escaped the attack as he was not present at the time of the attack. The devastated mother of four arrived at the St. Mary of the People Parish for the funeral of her dear family members in a wheelchair along with her eldest son.

"In no way, shape or form can I believe that good will come out of this tragedy. I can't and I won't accept it. But what I have to take with me is that light that I have found from all of you. You have given me a lens into my family's lives that I didn't have and that is a gift for which I am forever grateful," said Loretta, in the heart-wrenching eulogy.

She further added, "I am so proud to be Chris' wife. I love him with everything that I have. I am so proud to be Bradley's mom. He was one of the kindest spirits to ever walk the face of this earth. And I am so proud to be Adelaide's mom. Her heart was pure as gold. And I am so proud to be Joey's mom. He was innocent and happy and he had the biggest dreams of all of us.”

Loretta stated, "They were the best of me. I have lost so many parts of me that make me a better person."

She reminisced the good times she shared with her husband who never forgot to make her laugh. "As you can expect after 23 years of marriage, I've pretty much heard all of his stories, probably about 23 times or more. But even so, he tried harder than ever to find something that would make me laugh, and once in a while he did. And boy did I laugh," said Loretta.

Meanwhile, Lapa, Loretta's brother died of a self-inflicted wound. According to CBC, he was cut off from their father's will when their father left behind his wealth to Loretta and her kids.

Loretta, who was injured during the attack remembered the last words she told her dear ones. "My last words to each of them was that I loved them," she said.

Sam too joined his mother in talking about the emptiness that the death of his father and siblings left behind. He said he wished his father and siblings could be a part of him growing up. He hoped his father had the opportunity to watch him graduate and see him became an accomplished young man.

"The happiness that they brought us is greater than any evil. I wish with all my heart that it could have been longer and we could have all gone through life together," said Sam. He added, "You always hear that you don't know what you got until it's gone. But we always knew. We knew we were loved."
