“When I was pregnant, they told me to have an abortion over 10 times because they said she wouldn’t be compatible with life," said the mom
Most mothers will do anything for their kids. They will fight the world and protect their children no matter how weak they might be physically or mentally. A-21-year-old mother showed that courage when the world around asked her to give up on her unborn daughter.
According to Mirror Online, Chloe Conlin was informed that her unborn child was not likely to survive when she was just 20 weeks pregnant. The doctors informed her that her baby had only half a heart. However, Chloe did not want an abortion because she had already lost a newborn. Her first child was stillborn.
However, the doctors continued to insist on the abortion but the determined mother was not ready for it. “When I was pregnant, they told me to have an abortion over 10 times because they said she wouldn’t be compatible with life, it would be a real struggle and she probably wouldn’t live until her first birthday," recalled the mother. "They told me she wouldn’t be reaching her milestones," said the young mother.

However, nothing shook the mother. She ignored their advice and went forward with the pregnancy. Soon, she was blessed with her daughter Miyah. As the scans showed earlier, her baby girl was born with a heart defect called right atrial isomerism. After being delivered at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Trust, the little girl was taken to London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for open heart surgery. Though the doctors did not believe in her thriving, Chloe kept up her faith. She stayed at a temporary accommodation provided by The Sick Children’s Trust and waited for the surgery to get over.
To everyone's surprise, the baby girl who was operated did not need other major treatments. "She hasn’t had any major hospital admissions since then," said the mother. Chloe saw her girl grow and go through every step like any other child. "She's started walking. She took her first steps about three weeks ago. She's running around now," said the mother to My London, about her 14-months-old baby girl. "She says 'Mum' and 'Dad' and she shakes her head, 'No', she says 'Ta'. She's learning a lot more, she's acknowledging a lot more as well," said the young mother.
Chloe is happy to have her daughter in her life. When Christmas was approaching, Chloe was excited to celebrate her baby girl's first Christmas and other family members. "Amazing to celebrate Christmas at home," said Chloe.
Though the medical procedures cannot fix her child's heart, it can prolong her life. "They can't fix her heart, they can only help her live longer, so it's palliative care." The mother also informed that Miyah might have to go through some surgery in a few years depending on her health. "She's got another one coming up in the next couple of years and that will be her last surgery that they can do for her, then after that it will be to see how far she can actually go," said the mother.
