Trigger warning: This story contains details of child abuse and violence.
In a horrendous incident from Ohio, one cruel mother took the life of her own son and tried to manipulate the authorities with her call for help. According to People, 29-year-old Brittany Gosney from Middletown alerted the police about the missing of her son James Robert Hutchinson. Based on the complaint, the authorities issued an alert. They even posted the missing alert on Twitter with the descriptions of the young boy.
"We have a missing 6-year-old named James. He is was last seen in the area of Crawford St. He is a white male, 3' tall, 42 lbs. He has dark blond/reddish hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a red shirt with blue and red Batman pajama pants. If you see him, call 911," said the police. Meanwhile, the officials along with numerous volunteers continued their search. However, hours after putting out the alert, they updated the post saying that they had new leads.

"We are no longer looking in the Crawford Street area. New information has led us outside the city limits. Thank you for your assistance," said the post. Later, it was revealed that the officials retracted from further investigation in the Crawford Street area as they had received some shocking information. The mother and her boyfriend, James Hamilton confessed that the boy was killed a few days ago in Preble County before they reported him missing.
The statement released said, "The child's body was brought back to Middletown, where they live, and later put into the Ohio River." The court documents further claimed that Gosney took her young boy to Rush Run Park in Preble County. She confessed that her initial plan was to abandon him in the park.
However, she changed her plans. When the mother began to drive away, the little boy tried to get back into the car. But that did not stop the cruel mother from driving away. The court documents stated that she reportedly drove off "dragging him for a distance at a high rate of speed."
30 to 40 minutes later, the woman came back to the spot to find her child with a head injury in the middle of the road. Thinking the child was already dead, the mother moved his body into the car and transported him back to their home on Crawford Lane.
The next day, she dumped his body into the Ohio River. The authorities arrested the woman and charged her with "murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence" on 28 March 2020. Her boyfriend was also arrested on the same day. He was charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. The couple held in the Middletown jail has not entered a plea deal yet.

Meanwhile, the officials removed two other kids from the family's home. They are also working with trained searchers to retrieve the body of the young boy. "The river is very high and treacherous, so we will not be disclosing the exact location in hopes of avoiding another tragic incident," said the police.
