Taking care of children can be really hard for parents but the solution is never to abandon them. A mother left her 8-year-old son at a petrol station, claiming he was too naughty to be taken care of, The Sun reported. The boy was found at a roadside in Pelalawan, Indonesia, alone and scared, holding onto a note which said he was abandoned for causing problems at home.
In the note, the mother says, "Child, forgive me. I am forced to leave you on the street as I’m no longer willing to see you suffer or tortured because of your mischief, every day you are causing problems. Forgive me, child. Take good care of yourself.” The police said that the child appeared to show signs of abuse which could explain the reference to torture in the note.
The boy's photo went viral on Twitter, and his face shows an evident cut on his cheek and marks around his mouth. Local media speculated that the father might have been violent towards the kid while punishing him for his mischief which prompted the mother to abandon him.
Indonesian newspaper Kompas reported that the police have found the child's parents and have called them in for questioning regarding the abuse and abandonment.
Edy Haryanto, a Pangkalan Kuras Police spokesman, said: "Indeed, there are indications of violence against the child. But we need to understand more about what happened. We will gather all parties to find out the truth of this case."
Girdstar reported that it all began when the boy's father had come home one evening and was told by his other two children that the 8-year-old had beaten them up. In a fit of rage, the father brutally abused the boy as punishment. On examination, the police found that the perpetrator might have pinched the boy's little finger and ring finger with pliers or a similar instrument. The father threatened to cut off the boy's leg as he was 'punishing' him during which the mother intervened and took the boy away. The woman left him near the gas station to fend for himself.
"Today his parents, the family, the head of the RT / RW, and all related parties were summoned to be examined by the Pangkalan Kuras Police. This is to find out whether the child was actually dumped and allegedly abused by his parents," Edy Haryanto told Kompas.
