Here Is How Meghan Is like Princess Diana | Will She Be a Hands-On Mom like Her?

They come from very different worlds, but both have the fortitude to move past broken relationships to seek a better life.

The Duchess of Sussex recently became a mother when she welcomed baby Archie into the world on May 7. All eyes were geared towards her and Prince Harry waiting with bated breath for the first glimpse of the tiny bundle of joy. However, long before Archie and her pregnancy, Meghan has been used to being in the spotlight, and not just because she was an actress. As soon as the couple announced that they were engaged, the public scrutiny on Meghan has been intense, and in that regards, she is so much like Princess Diana, who was constantly criticized for her life and fashion choices.

Meghan and Harry are both from broken homes and understand the need of having a family, which the late princess knew as well. Diana too loved her two sons to bits and they are still convinced that had she been alive, she would have loved her grandchildren as much. Meghan, when she first appeared to the media after the birth of Archie, gave enough proof with her body language that she was intensely protective of and loved her tiny baby.

The two powerful women are alike in their life choices. Both got separated from partners who didn't value them as much as they should have been. Both Princess  Diana and Prince Charles divorced after their marriage turned to disaster, according to Popsugar.com. Meghan too left her previous husband, actor, and producer Trevor Engelson in 2013. They quietly separated in August 2013, according to US Magazine.

However, both women found love again and moved on with their lives. Had Diana lived, she would have continued to be a hands-on mother, full of life. According to Prince Harry,  she was one of the "naughtiest parents", reported BBC. She loved and teased her children, let them have fun and did not want them to be limited to the formal ways of the royal family. Prince William said that she knew that there was a real world outside of the royal family and she wanted them to know about it.

Meghan, on the other hand, who grew up as a civilian is very well acquainted with the real world outside the royal life and would teach her values to her children.

One of the key ways the two powerful women are together is reflected in their choice of fashion and how they use their status and power to speak about causes like mental health. On many an outing, Meghan has been photographed wearing outfits very similar to Diana. In fact, her engagement ring was designed by Prince Harry with two diamonds from the jewelry collection of his late mother, according to Business Insider.

The late princess had in fact modernized the royal family with her life choices, humanitarian work, and fashion, probably making it possible for both her sons to marry commoners. It also made it possible for her ex, Prince Charles to finally marry the love of his life, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

As a mother, there is much to wait and watch for, when it comes to Meghan, but we know that Diana was a fun parent, who let her children jump into a pool fully clothed once, and let them have a  have impromptu go-kart tracks around Prince Charles's flower-beds at Highgrove. It is also clear that Meghan respects Diana. In the birth announcement of baby Archie, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle included a tribute to his late mother.

They broke tradition again when they said that Diana's siblings, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer, were also informed about the birth along with the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Later, when Archie made his debut instead of the mother cradling him it was Prince Harry who held his baby close, showing that he would be a good father.

It is obvious that the two women come from different worlds entirely, one an American bi-racial former Hollywood actress from a broken home, another who broke away from the most powerful monarchy in the world, and yet the courage both display in confronting that which is toxic for them is similar.
