Man Slammed For Stealing The Spotlight At His Best Friend's Wedding In The Worst Way Possible

"If anyone does this on my wedding I'm throwing hands," a user wrote.

People have very strong opinions about others making announcements at weddings. More often than not, it is seen as something done to steal the spotlight from the bride and groom. A man is now facing backlash after he proposed to his girlfriend at his best friend's wedding despite it being done on the couple's suggestion, reported the Mirror UK.

Laiven Bene, from Sydney, was getting married to his wife Catrin and in a bid to make the day more memorable, the couple planned for Bene's best friend to pop the question to his own girlfriend who also happens to be the bride's best friend during the reception. The video taken during the wedding sees bride Catrin preparing to throw the bouquet behind her. She stops and instead walks straight over to her best friend and hands her the flowers. The surprised woman spins around and sees her boyfriend down on one knee with a ring in his hand.

The moment was very special for both the couples but they are now forced to defend their decision. The video received a lot of hate from people who claimed that the man wrecked the couple's wedding. The man says that he was surprised by the kind of backlash he received. Some were even questioning the couple, asking them why they thought it was a good idea. "You wait your whole life for the perfect wedding day just for someone else to make it about them, I'm a good friend but I would never allow this," a person wrote, while another said, "If anyone does this on my wedding I'm throwing hands." A third added, "now just why would you let him propose on your wedding day? If I were her I'd ruin her wedding and her baby shower and her bridal party."

Others showed their support to the man and the couple by saying, "That is real friendship right there! The bride was secure enough to know that that wouldn't take away the shine from her and allowed her bestie to experience her own joy and that moment! Go her and congrats girl!", while another commented, "Weddings are a celebration of love. I think this is amazing," according to the Mirror UK.
