The death of the man comes less than two months after his wife and kid's death. Hamayun's wife Warda Syed and his 11-year-old son Uzair Ahmed passed away on February 23, 2021. The incident came to light after the cops were informed about an unattended child. On arriving at the spot, the officers found a 6-year-old boy in a car, calling out for his mother. Consequently, officers began searching for the boy's mother.
The cops, who followed the footprints from the car to the nearby pond, found the bodies of the mother and her other child in the water body. On further investigation, their deaths were ruled as a drowning accident. The police also identified the surviving young boy as Unais Ahmed.
After the tragic deaths of his wife and child, Hamayun's health deteriorated. "Even when I saw him, you know, he was just heartbroken and to see how weak he got. But after [the accident], obviously the trauma probably just took a toll on him and he just went downhill very quickly," said the family friend.
He added, "It's just so painful to see a family have two deaths in basically 60 days. It's been very tough for the community and their family, especially. It's painful." Khan confirmed that the surviving child would be looked after by Hamayun's extended family.
Meanwhile, the grieving family of Hamayun requested the community for prayers. They also encouraged the community to install safety barriers around the river to prevent tragic drowning accidents.
