The husband has now been arrested and charged with 'attempted murder, assault causing great bodily injury, domestic violence, false imprisonment and parole violation'
Marriage doesn't come without problems but abusing and killing your spouse is certainly not an option. A couple was enjoying their time at the beach when they got into an argument and things escalated. The man has now been arrested for trying to drown his wife and attempting to bury her alive in the sand. The incident occurred at Coronado Beach in San Diego, reported People.
The husband, Jose Luis Mares III, 23, has now been arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault causing great bodily injury, domestic violence, false imprisonment, and parole violation', according to reports. Mares and his wife had arrived at the beach in the evening and eventually got into an argument, which is "when the suspect began attacking his wife," the police stated. "He attempted to throw her in the ocean, then burying her in a hole in the sand," they further said. The distressed woman somehow managed to escape and run away from him to the street where a passerby found her. The police were informed and were told by the woman that her husband had just tried to kill her on the beach.
The first responders took the woman to a San Diego trauma center while Mares was later found by police, hiding in the backyard of a home nearby. Online records show that Mares was booked into the San Diego Central Jail and is being held without bail. It is not clear if he has legal representation or has entered a plea at this time.
KSWB-TV gave further details of what had happened that day, the man had apparently tried to throw his wife into the surf and when that didn't work, he brought her near a lifeguard tower where he tried to bury her in the sand. “She said there was a hole in the ground, probably dug by kids during the day. During the struggle, she said he threw her in that hole and began putting sand on top of her," said Detective Ryan Brennan of the Coronado Police Department, according to the station. “We don’t know what scared him away. Perhaps it was someone walking by,” he further said.
