Madeleine McCann's parents were informed she was no more alive by German chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters.
Kate and Gerry McCann waited for 13 years to see significant developments in the case of their missing daughter Madeleine. Recently, the authorities suspected Christian Brueckner in the abduction and murder of the girl. However, the suspect's lawyer has come out with a new statement denying his involvement in Madeleine's missing.
According to Mirror Online, Brueckner’s lawyer, Friedrich Fuelscher claimed he had proofs to say that his client did not kidnap the girl on May 3, 2007.
Madeleine, along with her parents and their friends were in Portugal's Praia da Luz for a vacation when the incident occurred. While the adults were enjoying a dinner outside, Madeleine and her siblings were tucked in bed at their room in Ocean Club resort. During every half an hour interval, the adults took turns checking on the kids.
Everything was smooth till 10:00 PM that night. When Kate went in to see if the kids were alright, she was shocked to realize her baby girl was not in bed, according to EOnline.
Kate and her husband never expected their vacation to turn into an unforgettable nightmare. Since then, the couple has been trying to find those responsible for the missing of their daughter, who was just 3 years at the time.
Madeleine went missing from her family's holiday apartment on May 3, 2007, a few days before her fourth birthday. Her disappearance sparked one of the biggest searches of its kind in recent years. https://t.co/1jyAFXfuSE— Rappler (@rapplerdotcom) June 18, 2020
In the recent turn of events, Fuelscher claimed that he examined the areas around the flat in Praia da Luz, Portugal that was occupied by the family during the event.
Though the 43-year-old suspect's phone records proved his presence at the location during the incident, Fuelscher stated that his "client did not commit" the crime after tracking the time taken from various places in the resort to the flat.
Speaking of the abduction that is said to have taken place between 9:10 pm and 10 pm, the lawyer stated, "If the witness statements are correct, there was a time window of one minute and 30 seconds in which the child could have been abducted.”

Meanwhile, German chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters previously stated that there is “material evidence” to prove that the child is dead.
"We have re-established contact with the McCann family in writing. We, of course, really consider the fact that it is going to be very hard for the family when we tell them we assume Madeline is dead. But we can’t say why she is dead. It is more important that we are successful and we are able to get the culprit, as opposed to just putting our cards on the table and tell them why we think she might be," said Wolters to Mirror Online.
He said, "We have concrete evidence that our suspect has killed Madeleine," according to NY Post. Incidentally, Brueckner is in prison for a string of other charges including the rape of an American pensioner, possession of child sex images, etc.
According to Mirror Online, the man is currently serving a 21-month sentence for drug dealing charges in Kiel, northern Germany. Meanwhile, he claims that he is not involved in the disappearance of the young girl.
"All we have ever wanted is to find her, uncover the truth, and bring those responsible to justice. We will never give up hope of finding Madeleine alive but whatever the outcome may be, we need to know, as we need to find peace," said the McCann family said in 2020.
Unfortunately, even though Madeleine kept up hopes of seeing their daughter alive for a long time, the authorities more or less confirmed she is no more this year.
