So, it will be no surprise if the legendary movie star decides to pass some marriage advice to his son as he celebrates almost two decades of marriage with his wife.

On the occasion of their 19th anniversary, the 102-year-old shared some wisdom for his 75-year-old son as he celebrated 20 years of marriage with his wife.

The actress shared a throwback photo of her dancing with her husband and captioned it, "Dancing into our 20th year! Happy Anniversary my love. Such a beautiful letter from my father in law.." The black and white letter from father-in-law Kirk Douglas sent on personalized stationary read, "Happy anniversary! Michael, you learned a very important lesson to stay married you must obey your wife! Keep practicing what I do with my wife. Daddy Kirk."

Pleased by the letter, the 50-year-old actress wrote, "I am touched." As of now, Michael seems to be following his father's advice.

Michael and his Catherine, despite their age gap of almost 25 years, have stood the test of time. While there have been multiple rumors and criticisms that arose regarding their age difference, the two have been there for each other since they got together in 1996. The duo crossed paths at the Deauville Film Festival. After a couple of dinner dates and long conversations, their romance blossomed into a long marriage.

"He certainly didn't want me as an ex-girlfriend on his list, and I certainly didn't want 'Michael Douglas' as an ex-boyfriend on my list. We looked at each other one day and said, 'We're having a lot of fun together,'" said the actress to Eonline. In 2000, after the birth of their first son, the Welsh actress walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life.

Ever since the couple have been through thick and thin. In 2010, Michael was diagnosed with cancer. But, he had his wife by his side. “When you get sideswiped like that [Douglass’ cancer] it’s an obvious trigger for your balance to be a little bit off – not sleeping, worry, stress. It’s a classic trigger. There are amazing highs and very low lows. My goal is to be consistently in the middle. I’m in a very good place right now. A lot of that is to do with the fact that I’m much more knowledgeable [on the condition]," said Catherine. They worked out the small bumps in their journey and eventually came over their difficult phase.
