Kind-Hearted 13-Year-Old Traded His XBox And Did Yard Work To Buy His Mom A Car

13-year-old William Preston, his mother, Krystal, and his two siblings were facing some tough times—so he decided to help.

A family from Nevada was going through a tough time when 13-year-old old William Preston decided to pitch in. Krystal Preston, a single mother, lived in Fernley with her three kids and three dogs when they had to start life over suddenly. The single mom was trying to make ends meet with no means of transportation. "At my low point, here comes my son," Krystal Preston said, according to KOLO TV. “Everybody goes through rough patches in their life, but there's good that can come from any situation as long as somebody with a heart does it."

Knowing that his mom needed a way around town, oldest son William wanted to help provide for his family. He had been doing yard and housework for people in his community to make a little extra money. But he decided to take it a step further. "I saw on YouTube where people get their mom a car and then surprise her with it,” William said. “I wanted to do that." The young teen saw a woman selling a 1999 white Chevrolet Metro via Facebook. According to Fox 8, he said that "It was really cheap, so I asked her if I could trade it for my Xbox or earn it, and at first she said no, and then she thought about it, and then she said yes.” Krystal said her son kept asking her “odd questions” about vehicles and vehicle parts. “I was like, OK, why? What?” she said. Little did she know she was about to be surprised in the biggest way. William managed to get the car for his mom! He then decided to deliver the good news to his mother. "Mom, I got you a car and she didn't believe me," William said.

William took her out to the driveway and Krystal was in utter disbelief. The woman who was selling the car was there and she took the two of them to her house where the car was parked. "I lost it, I bawled, I was just like, there's no way,” Krystal said. “And then she gave me the keys and the paperwork. The fact that my kid did this, I'm proud but as a mom I'm supposed to be able to take care of my kids, I'm supposed to do this, not the other way around," Krystal said. But she's still touched by her son's kindness. "What 13-year-old buys their mom a car? I don't know any,” Krystal said. "I can't even express it; there are no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am."

The family even set up a GoFundMe page, in which Krystal described how lucky she is to have her son in her life. She wrote: He was born with a severe case of biolateral clubfoot. So from a week old William had surgeries and casting in both legs for years. He never once couldn't do something he set his mind to. Learned to walk with cast on and everything. He's always been an out going person. He loves helping people. William also has ADHD and it's been a struggle for him so a couple years back he started doing lemonade stands then it went to dog poop clean up to yard work to mowing lawns using weed eaters then he started helping construction workers and he loves it. He does all kinds of work and loves to learn new trades then he even got awarded a trip for a week by the city of fernley for helping around town and cleaning up the streets and yards of many people. He is always trying to make people smile.  William is always on the move and wants to help and make people smile. And that's why you are now even reading this is because William helped me his mom in a way that is unremarkable and so inspiring and loving. I'm very proud of him. Our family is going through a rough time in every aspect so anything you give is appreciated more than you know... Thank you all so much and God bless. The page has raised $13,050 so far.
