Kelly Clarkson Credits Husband Brandon For Emmy Win Despite Filing For Divorce | "Thank You... For Believing In Me"

Brandon Blackstock, who was also her manager, had encouraged her to start her TV show, The Kelly Clarkson Show

Separating from your partner does not mean you have to feel any animosity towards them especially if they have been instrumental in helping you grow professionally or personally. Kelly Clarkson just proved it. Though she filed a divorce from her partner, Brandon Blackstock, the singer did not refrain from showing him gratitude after a major milestone.

According to People, Clarkson won the Emmy for outstanding entertainment talk show host at the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards that was held virtually. The 38-year-old host of The Kelly Clarkson Show was over the moon and expressed her happiness through her social media accounts. “OH MY GOSH!!!!!! What is happening?!!!! This is amazing!!! Thank y’all so much!!!" wrote the singer on Twitter, according to People. She added, "And a MAJOR thank you to my entire crew that really is the reason I won!!! I can’t wait to celebrate with our whole crew when humans can congregate again!! This calls for a PARTY!!!!”

The singer then extended her gratitude to Blackstock, who also filled the role of her manager. She thanked him for motivating her to launch the show in 2019. She wrote, "Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show."

Clarkson's gesture was surprising to many especially after the divorce announcement that came on 4 June 2020. But that depicted the kind of relationship they shared in spite of the differences that arose in their marriage.

The couple share two children, daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4. Though the couple was having marital troubles, they were trying to work it out. With the quarantine in place, the couple along with the kids were isolating in their ranch in Montana.

However, sources close to the singer stated that she realized it was time to move on. "Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out. They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead, the change in environment was actually detrimental," said a source, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The source stated that the isolation added to their already existing relationship challenges. "The constant time together seemed to make an already challenging situation worse," said the source. They also stated that Clarkson did not have the time to think about their issues due to her hectic schedules but with quarantine, she was able to look into it.

Her show "definitely helped to keep her mind off things, but this recent downtime gave her the time she needed to think about her life and her marriage," said the source, according to Entertainment Tonight. They added, "However, with the free time that came with the pandemic gave her the time to reexamine her relationship."

After all the thought, Clarkson decided to file for divorce. "Kelly knew she just needed to follow her heart and finally realized divorce was her only option," said the source. Despite it all, they hope to remain in close contact for the welfare of their children and look to a co-parenting future together.

"They are both heartbroken, but their plan is to put the kids first. Their focus is on co-parenting and moving forward, as this is the last place they ever thought they would be. They both understand divorce is never easy for children, but Kelly and Brandon are great parents. It'll just take time," according to Cosmopolitan.

Meanwhile, the couple has not made any official statements regarding the split. The news of their divorce came as a shock to the public as it seemed like they were enjoying a great time at the ranch.

"It's a really beautiful ranch and it’s a nice getaway for our family. It's something Brandon and I have dreamed about since we were both kids. This is what we would call home," said the singer during one of the remote episodes of her talk show.
