"Our hearts are so full! We are so thankful for God blessings us with such a healthy baby girl!" the couple shared.
With their first baby, whom they lovingly call Asa, Josiah and Lauren Duggar never got the chance to feel their baby's heartbeat or listen to their baby laughing and gurgling away. After Lauren miscarried her first baby, the pain was also eased when the couple recently welcomed their baby girl on November 8, 2019.
Weighing 6 lbs., 9 oz, the "beautiful miracle" came into their world like a "rainbow after the storm".
"After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived," the couple told People. "When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro all the pain instantly went away. We can’t believe she is ours — she is so perfect!"
They named their baby girl Bella Milagro because it reflects exactly what she means to them. "She definitely has lived up to her name which means, 'beautiful miracle'," they said. "Today we are basking in God’s goodness!"
In their statement, they also shared, "Every good and perfect gift is from above and we are looking forward to this new season of parenting together!"
Bella Milagro joined the Duggar family less than a year after Josiah and Lauren experienced the devastating miscarriage. Earlier, when the couple opened up about their miscarriage, they wrote on Instagram, "Our expectations of setting up a baby room, hearing the heartbeat, feeling the baby's first kick in mommy's tummy, holding our little one and getting to see our precious baby were - Shattered. Gone. Right before our eyes. Even though our sweet child is no longer with us, it is such a comfort to know that one day we will get to see our baby in Heaven!"
They recalled the crushing moment of losing the baby on TLC's Counting On, where Lauren said, "I wasn’t feeling well. I was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange because I normally don’t. I was thinking maybe I had something that had gluten in it. It was late at night and I went to use the restroom and there was the baby. Gone. I couldn’t believe it and I was hoping it wasn’t true."
While on the show, Lauren admitted that losing her baby had left her heartbroken, according to the Daily Mail, and she said, "I grieved for months. For a long time, I was in depression for so long that to me life had no purpose, or something like that, and it hurt. It just hurt really bad."
But things started to change when they found that they were going to be parents to baby #2. They were extremely excited and thankful for the little one that was on her way to entering their world. While they started making way for the arrival of Bella Milagro, they continued to remember and honor the memory of Asa.
When the Counting On stars announced the news of their second baby, they said, "It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift! So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good!"
While Lauren was pregnant with Bella Milagro, the family told Us Weekly, "If she only knew how loved she is already and how many people are already praying for her! She truly is a gift... a miracle from God."
After months of waiting, Lauren and Josiah are overjoyed to finally have their daughter in their arms. After her birth, the couple shared, "Our hearts are so full! We are so thankful for God blessings us with such a healthy baby girl!"
