Mental health illness can affect the daily lives of people. It can disrupt relationships and even harm their physical well being. According to Medical News Today, mental health refers to our cognitive, behavioral, and emotional wellbeing. It is dependant on how we feel, behave, or even think. People suffer from a variety of issues like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, addiction, etc.
Mental health Aid organization stated that almost half of the adults in the United States have experienced mental health issues during their lifetime. Among which many mental health disorders begin at a very young age -- between 14 to 24 years. However, it was found that only 41 percent of the people received any kind of professional health care.
Over the years, the stigma related to mental health is slowly taking a backseat with organizations working to spread awareness. Celebrities from all walks of life have also contributed to this change by sharing their experiences on social media. This has ignited a new fire in society that has helped in removing the taboo and stereotypes surrounding mental health.
Today, online influencers and common people across the globe, regardless of age or gender are sharing stories on Twitter and Instagram on how their bodies changed in response to their mental health illnesses.
