Andrew Blank did not expect his wife to pass away. He is trying to stay strong for their kids.
Telling children that their mother is no more is not easy. It is even worse if they witnessed her passing. No words can ever console them or even take away the heartbreaking memories of their mother's death. One father was just helpless when his wife collapsed in front of their little children. The devastated man could only cry out in pain.
Andrew Blank was shocked to see his wife, Donna collapse in front of him. The 44-year-old tried everything he could to save her life as she battled to stay alive in Mayhill, Swansea on 20 August, 2020.
Their innocent children, Ben, 10, and Samantha, 12, watched their terrified father frantically trying to give CPR to his 40-year-old wife. However, after all his efforts, the woman passed away.
Donna had been diagnosed with a chest infection and was taking antibiotics for two days, according to Wales Online. She even claimed she was feeling better. Donna's death came as a shock to Andrew and the family is not sure of the cause of her death. Meanwhile, they suspect she was suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition. With Donna not around, Andrew is suddenly left with the responsibility of their four children.
Speaking to Mirror Online, the heartbroken father recalled the chilling last moments he spent with his wife. He stated that their bedroom brings back the images of his wife battling with death. "I hate going to bed every night. Every time I go in that room I see Donna lying on the floor."
The father of four then recalled how he told their kids of their mother's death. "They were all in the living room and I got as far as 'mummy's in heaven' before I started bawling my eyes out. My stepdad had to step in and say it because I just couldn't," said Andrew.
Further, he stated telling his children about Donna's demise was the toughest thing he had to do. "Telling the kids she didn't make it was the hardest thing I've ever done," claimed the man.
Though death has left a massive void in his and their children's life, Andrew is trying to fill Donna's shoes and be there for the children. Although he wants to express his sorrow, he is forced to internalize it just for their children.
"I've got to stay strong for them and be the dad they need me to be. I try not break down in front of them, but when they've gone to bed I just sit out in the garden and cry my eyes out," said the man, according to Mirror Online.
Moreover, he cannot imagine the kids growing up without the love and care of their mother. He even felt it was better for him to have gone first. "I'd happily swap with her any day of the week, I wish I could take her place so the kids can grow up with their mum. But I wouldn't want her to have this pain. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy," said Andrew.
Besides, Andrew opened up about missing her presence in his life. He also added that they were supposed to celebrate their wedding anniversary on 29 August 2020, and also her birthday on 24 August 2020.
"Her birthday would have been next Monday, she was about to turn 41. It's our 11th wedding anniversary on Saturday as well. She had her whole life ahead of her and now she's gone – we didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. I miss her so much. She was an incredible mum. She was just a brilliant, brilliant person. I just don't know what I'm going to do without her."
