Police Officers Snatch 8-MO Baby From Breastfeeding Mother; Parents Don't Even Know The Kid's Whereabouts

The parents started a GoFundMe Page to bring their child home. The reason for the removal is still unknown.

In a dramatic turn of events, a baby was forcefully taken away from his mother who was breastfeeding him.

According to 7News, an eight-month-old "gumnut" baby was ripped off from his mother's arm in Byron Bay, Australia. "Gumnut" refers to the babies who live in the bush. It is a reference from a book by May Gibbs.

In video footage circulating online, NSW police officers along with the Family and Community Services officials are seen trying to persuade the mother into handing over her child. Moments later, the authorities resorted to using force.

“This is not right. This is my baby. This is against human rights. Don’t do this to him," cried the mother to the authorities. However, the officers were unwilling to give up. At one point, an officer said, "It’s not going to end any differently at the moment so the best thing for you is to listen." He added, "I’ve got concerns for the safety of your baby."

Meanwhile, the mother continued to plead with the authorities. She held on to her child and refused to give her infant to the officers. Shortly thereafter, two officers restrained the mother and removed the crying child from her arms. “I will not have you take my baby. I birthed this child. He will drink my milk,” said the devastated mother.

Despite the mother's resistance, the authorities are seen walking away with the baby.

Soon after the heartbreaking encounter, the family started a GoFund Me page. It stated, "As Mothers, Fathers, Aunties, Uncles, and Grandparents we can feel the trauma this separation is causing to our family. We eat & live an Organic lifestyle and love spending our time in nature, swimming and having fun."

Further, the baby's parents explained their different lifestyle and raised their concerns regarding the well being of their child. They stated that they wash their child with “fresh fluoride chlorine chemical free water from the sky" and doubted the officials might be “using artificial perfume and bathing him in chems”.

The parents called the actions of the authorities "unlawful" and stated that they failed to keep them informed about their infant's whereabouts. They went on to inform that the money raised through the fundraiser would be used to reunite their infant with the family.

“The money raised from this fund will go towards rescuing our son and bringing him home in our arms, where he belongs,” said the parents.

While the reason for the child's removal continues to be a mystery, the Department of Communities and Justice committed that it "takes concerns about children’s safety and wellbeing extremely seriously."

"At times, however, the public’s concern is at odds with our statutory requirement to protect privacy. As a result, DCJ cannot comment on individual child protection matters," said the department in a statement to 7News.
