Gwen Stefani Endured "Months Of Torture" After Her Husband Of 13 Years Betrayed Her Trust And Shattered Her Dreams

Gwen Stefani was shocked and could believe that her husband was cheating on her right under her nose.

When we love someone, we give our everything to them, hoping they would do the same for us. However, that is not always a reality. Even after giving our 100 percent, we are sometimes left with nothing but a broken heart and a bundle of painful memories. American singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani went through one of the worst phases of her life when her husband of 13 years betrayed her trust.

The singer met Bush's lead singer, Gavin Rossdale when she was just a 26-year-old. "When I met him and looked up at him, I was like, 'Whoa.' It was different," she recalled of the moment. "I was in quite a rebellious place because I was feeling really rejected...Somehow he got my phone number, and that was that. He stalked me, I think," Stefani looked back, according to E News. The artist who was still living at home began dating Rossdale. Their relationship went on for seven long years. In 2002, the couple tied the knot and promised to be with each other in sickness and in health. They became parents to three kids and Stefani thought she had the family she dreamed of. But soon, she realized her life was not exactly a fairy tale.

In 2015, reports regarding her husband's affair with their long term nanny Mindy Mann came out and the singer was shattered. Rumors spread that the singer left Stefani at the hospital after the birth of their youngest son, Apollo to meet up with the nanny, according to E Online. Though the allegations were not confirmed, the couple eventually filed for divorce. However, the singer later spoke about her troubled marriage. "Nobody except for my parents, the people involved, and whoever they told. Nobody would believe it if I could really say what happened," said the 50-year-old singer, according to Billboard.

"It was the beginning of hell. Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret," stated the singer. Though her husband was cheating right under her nose, it took her a while to realize what was happening. It was shocking to her and the mother-of-three immediately moved out to a friend's house.

"My dreams were shattered. All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have," she said, according to People. She continued, "It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, 'What?! What did I do?'"

It took an emotional toll on Stefani and she repeatedly asked herself why she was forced to go through such a heartbreaking incident. “Of course you go through the ‘Why me?’ and feel sorry for yourself. But then I was like, ‘No, this happened to me already and I made something good out of it,’ and that was Tragic Kingdom,” recalled the singer. More than getting herself hurt, she began to worry about how it would impact her kids. "As a famous person, you start to think, ‘I can’t say all that because I’ll embarrass them or hurt them in some way.’ And especially now because they can see everything and hear everything. But I’ve done nothing I’m ashamed of … Well, we all have a few things we’re ashamed of,” stated the mother-of-three.

However, her broken heart was fixed by a man who was going through similar problems as hers. Stefani met Blake Sheldon, the country singer on season 17 of The Voice. “We were both having trust issues, as you would if you were us. It was like, 'I have so many problems. How can I now be getting into another potentially huge problem? What am I doing?'” she said. Soon, Blake and Stefani found comfort in each other.

"It was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time," said Stefani, according to Marie Claire. The couple started dating and the singer could not be happier. “Like, we’re just having the time of our lives, and we never expected that this late in our lives, so we’re just trying to savor every moment together, and just to be back on The Voice as well, not to change the subject, but working together again has been really fun, and I love being here and I love being with him,” said the singer.
