Gordon Ramsay's Daughter Reveals She Was Hospitalised With PTSD For 3 Months After Sexual Assaults

"I didn’t tell anyone about it until a year afterwards. I just buried it in a box in the back of my mind," she explained

Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay's daughter Holly has revealed that she was sexually assaulted twice when she was 18. She then spoke about her difficult battle with PTSD after the incident which led to her spending three months in a mental health hospital, reported the Daily Star

"The PTSD was a result of two sexual assaults when I was 18. I didn’t tell anyone about it until a year afterwards. I just buried it in a box in the back of my mind," she revealed before explaining that she ended up leaving her university, Ravensbourne University in London, after her mental health further declined. She had to be admitted to Marylebone's Nightingale Hospital, which is the city's only private mental health hospital. She continued,
"That was where I was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Since then, I have been in therapy up to three times a week. I now have these diagnoses that I carry around with me. The PTSD was a result of two sexual assaults when I was 18. I didn’t tell anyone about it until a year afterwards. I just buried it in a box in the back of my mind," reported the Daily Star.

Holly then said that she was grateful for her "amazing" family's help, praising dad Gordon alongside her mother Tana, 46, her sisters Megan, 23, and Tilly, 19, her twin Jack, and her youngest brother Oscar, 2, for giving her "the greatest unconditional support". "It's brought me closer to them in many ways. I’ve lost friends. It’s definitely a journey. But I hope that by speaking out I can help other people," she added. Holly now studies at the Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design and helps manage the social media accounts for her father's famous restaurants, reported the Daily Star.

Holly opened up about her mental health battles on Instagram, saying, "I hope we can continue to break the stigma surrounding our mental health. Asking for help is not only the bravest thing you can do, but it is also your first step to reaching a happier & healthier you."
