The season of celebrations is here. During this time, kids await gifts from their favorite Santa Claus and delicious meals from their parents. Parents have polar opposite views on Santa, some let their children believe in its magic, while others tell them that it's just a holiday story. This Christmas was different, as mom Anali Parez posted her daughter Elliana's video on Instagram in which she said “What were you telling kids?” Elliana answered, "That Santa wasn’t real." This led to a call from the kid's school and sparked debates around the issue on social media.
In this video, Parez further asks her daughter why she revealed this to other kids and the kid replied "Because they thought that Santa was real. And I said, ‘No he is not real.'" Elliana's elder brother, Jax was concerned about the other kids and said in the Instagram video “Now those kids are going to go home and have the worst Christmas ever.” To this Elliana was unperturbed and replied "Today’s not Christmas.” This sparked a conversation about whether kids who know Santa is not real should convey it to other kids who believe in Santa Claus.
Even in Parez's comment sections, there were debates. One follower commented "Well, it's sad that she knows too much and she doesn't have the spirit," said one mum and another added, "I tell my girls "If you don't believe, you don't receive", so they pretend he's real and doesn't tell others." The other side of this debate also joined the comments section and one follower commented "She is authentic. We tell children not to lie. She knew the truth."

This video's caption captures Parez's thoughts on the issue, as it says "How do you break it to your kids when they find out it’s a lie and no longer magical? I honestly don’t care either way HOWEVER, be prepared to explain yourself knowing your kids will be around other kids who are not believers ... I tell my kids to not ruin it for others but I’m also not going to be mad when they state facts.” This video saw a lot of support and discussions and for this reason, now it has 5 million views and 400k likes.

In light of the debate this video sparked, Parez uploaded another video on Instagram on the subject and wrote “Her classmate said Santa was real, and in her eyes, she was also telling the truth" and adds “Everyone has different beliefs. Her intentions were not to offend or hurt kids' feelings. However, she is 100% allowed to voice her opinion as well." Here also, she received support in her comments section, one follower wrote "you're so good for this", another follower wrote, "love this!!."

While Parez's video sparked a debate, it also led to a lot of support and love for the family in the comments section. The center of this love was Anali and Elliana but Jax was also complimented in the comments section, as one follower wrote "Your boy is what the world needs, he is a beautiful soul and you can see it all over him". Another follower wrote "'The boy is so sweet and mature." This holiday was not just Christmas trees and Santa Claus, it was also debates and showering of love for this family!
