Former NFL Player Vincent Jackson Found Dead In Hotel Room

Vincent Jackson's body was found by a housekeeper. He was reported missing by his family members.

The sports world is mourning today after it lost one of its stars. According to USA Today, Former NFL wide receiver Vincent Jackson was found dead at his hotel room in Florida on 15 February 2020. As per the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the body of the 38-year-old was found by a housekeeper at around 11:30 a.m ET in a  Homewood Suites on the eastern outskirts of Tampa. 



 

"My heart aches for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson leaves behind, from his wife and children to the Buccaneers nation that adored him," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. He added, "Mr. Jackson was a devoted man who put his family and community above everything else. ... He will be sorely missed by not only football fans across the country but also the people here in Hillsborough County who reaped the benefits of his generous contributions."



 

The sheriff's office stated that the player's body did not show any signs of trauma. They also rejected any suspicions of crime or other foul plays. However, the cause of his death is still unknown as the authorities are waiting for information from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office. 

The sheriff further informed that the player's family had filed a missing case on 10 February 2021. However, the authorities located him at the Homewood Suites and checked on him. As a result, the case was withdrawn. 



 

Meanwhile, the death of Jackson has saddened his fans and dear ones. Jackson, who was athletically inclined from a very young age was selected by the Chargers in the 2005 draft. After becoming a starter in 2006, Jackson spent 7 years in San Diego. Soon after, he signed as a free agent with the Buccaneers in 2012. The talented sportsman made three Pro Bowls from 2009 to 2012. He retired in 2018 after he suffered from a severe knee injury in 2016. 

The star was also admired for his generosity and support towards military families. In 2012, Jackson whose parents are army veterans started the Action 83 Foundation.



 

"Vincent was a fan favorite not only for his Pro Bowl play on the field but for the impact he made on the community off of it. The work he has done on behalf of military families through his foundation in the years since his retirement has been an inspiration to all of us," said the Chargers in a statement. 

Jackson was made an honorary deputy three years ago to acknowledge his contributions to society.
