The documentary on Chris Watts on Netflix garnered a lot of attention.
Somethings that we hear are just bizarre and they make us question the genuineness of the news. This tale is such a kind. One man convicted of killing his entire family has managed to conquer the hearts of some ladies.
According to People, "Family Killer" Chris Watts from Colorado killed his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste just to start a life with his lover. Watts had a long-term affair with a co-worker, Nichol Kessinger, who thought he had separated from his wife. In order to restart a new chapter of life with Kessinger, Watts chose to commit this heinous crime.
Watts's story gained a lot of attention after it got picked up by Netflix for a documentary called American Murder: The Family Next Door. Instead of condemning the cold murder, many women have somehow developed sympathy for Watts. Sources from the prison stated that the man has been receiving a lot of love letters from random women.
"He got a lot of letters at first. Many of them are from women who thought he was handsome and felt compassion for him. He had nothing better to do, so he wrote them back. And he started having penpals. A couple of them stood out, and they've kept in contact," said a source, according to People.
The source also claimed most of these women were not disturbed by the gruesome crime he committed. "They have compassion on(sic) him, despite what he did," said the source. The insider further added that the man got more than 10 letters after the Netflix documentary.
"Some of the letters are angry. A lot of them are from people of faith who want to pray for him. But then he gets letters from women who want to connect with him, you know, romantically. He responds because he doesn't have anything better to do," said the source.
Watts killed his wife on August 13, 2018, at their family home. He later disposed her body at his work site. The evil man also smothered his kids and dumped their bodies in an oil tank. Initially, Watts stated he killed his wife because she murdered his kids. However, the man eventually admitted to the crime.
Prior to the harrowing incident, Shanann had discussed her marital troubles with her friend. She told her friend that she felt her husband of eight years did not love her anymore. "He said we are not compatible anymore! He refused to hug me after he said he will try to 'work' it out! Said he thought another baby would fix his feelings. Said, he refused couples counseling," told the woman to her friend, according to FOX31.
However, the woman had no idea that her husband would harm her. "Chris told me last night he's scared to death about this third baby. And he's happy with just Bella and Celeste and doesn't want another baby," texted the pregnant wife to her friend, days before being killed. "He hasn't touched me all week, kissed me, talked to me except for when I'm trying to figure out what is wrong," added the woman. "He has changed. I don't know who he is," she texted.
Her messages to the friend make it clear she was desperate to save her marriage and connect with her husband, in her last days.
Currently, Watts is in protective custody, and only leaves his cell for an hour a day for exercise and shower. He is not eligible for parole.
