"I just hope that she's in a better place than she was two and a half years ago when she stole from a pregnant lady," the woman said
After reading the story you will be convinced that this woman might just have it in her to become a detective. It all started when TikTok user Mariam's sister complained to her about many gift cards missing after her baby shower. Mariam, however, was quick to solve the mystery after she noticed a tiny but important detail in the photos taken during the event, reported Mirror UK.
The user made a video about how she solved the mystery of gift cards going missing the family celebration by studying photos from the day. One has to have a very sharp eye to spot what she did. At first, there was nothing strange or suspicious in the photos, till it struck her that perhaps she should see the 'live photo' version of it. The feature that, found on iPhones, records what happens 1.5 seconds before and after you take a picture, storing it as a mini video for you. This allows users to choose a new frame, add effects, or turn it into a GIF.
When she opened one particular photo, she somehow spotted a waiter doing something unusual in the background. She then zoomed in for a closer look and noticed that in the group of three staff members walking by, the waiter on the right holding a tray appears to be taking something off the table and concealing it under the tray within a blink of the eye. The video has been viewed more than 2.3 million times on the platform and people were clearly blown away by her skills. One person commented, "who's watched this more than 30 times trying to see?", while another said, "I saw her take the card and hide it behind the serving tray." Some were still not convinced and argued, "What? This doesn't prove or disprove anything. Were the waiters allowed to accept tips? Also, you can't even tell if it's money in her hand."
Mariam later gave an update saying that her sister had shown the video to the management at the venue and was reimbursed for the estimated value of the gift cards that had been lost. She further said that the incident was also reported to the police, but that they don't know if the staff member was charged. "I just hope that she's in a better place than she was two and a half years ago when she stole from a pregnant lady," she said.
