Watching someone fight for their lives is painful, especially when they know they don't have much time. Each minute with them is to be treasured and we ensure that we look after all their needs and take care of any last wishes they have. Most often than not, the last wish is almost always to meet someone or talk to someone.  However, this dying father's wish was to meet a person who wasn't even born yet. In a heartbreaking episode on Gogglebox, a British TV series, for a Stand Up To Cancer special, viewers got to see one of the greatest examples of a father's love when Brett, a brain tumor patient, kept himself alive just long enough to meet his third child.

The episode begins with a glimpse into Brett and Nicola's love story. They started off as friends before realizing there was more to them than just that. In years to come, they would marry each other and soon become parents to two beautiful daughters. "He really enjoyed being a dad...he was such a good dad," Nicola said. "It made me really happy," she added, "But, then he got poorly."

Nicola began to notice changes in his behavior much earlier, but it is only in 2015, did they receive the shocking diagnosis that Brett had a brain tumor. The devastated wife recalled, "We sat down with his neurologist and they went through the extremes of what the surgery could lead to." The couple was informed that surgery could end in one of two ways — removal of the tumor or death. "We almost started to panic and they took as much of the tumor away as they could. When the tumor grew back, when I was pregnant with Arya (third child), it was more aggressive. It couldn't be operated on," she said, according to Metro UK.

The tumor was diagnosed as inoperable, and three months later when Nicola went into labor with their third child at Luton hospital, Brett had a seizure at home and had to be rushed to Milton Keynes. After giving birth to their daughter, the only thing Nicola wanted was to ensure Brett got to hold his newborn as he had wished for. "It was like a race against time to make sure we were ok but could get going [to the hospital he was in]," Nicola said, reports the Daily Mail. With a co-operative hospital staff, she made it in time She said, "I knew what was going to happen and I wanted him to know that it was ok.. I told him it's ok, don't hurt yourself anymore."

Nicola laid her newborn baby girl, Arya, on Brett and this would be the first and the last time the father was able to meet the newborn. The mother even described how their newest born looked to him. After spending some hours together, he died knowing that he was with her. She was born at 5:07 a.m. on February 11, 2019, and three hours later, he tragically passed away at 8:25 a.m. His older two daughters still believe that their dad, who they call their "superhero handsome prince," sends them feathers to let them know he's watching over them.
