The country music legend Dolly Parton and her husband has come along a long romantic journey. The couple has been together for 53 years now.
The glamorous world of Hollywood has seen the coming and going of many relationships but Dolly Parton is among the few celebrities who have managed to preserve a long-lasting marriage. The music legend who is one of the finest in the history of country music shares her life with husband Carl Thomas Dean. The couple has always had a very private relationship and share a romance like no other.
"I've been married for 53 years come next May, and my husband and I have a great relationship. We've been together most of our lives," said the 73-year-old singer, according to Today.
It was love at first sight for 18-year-old aspiring singer Dolly and 21-year-old Dean. "My first thought was I'm gonna marry that girl. My second thought was, 'Lord she's good looking.' And that was the day my life began. I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth."," said Dean in a rare interview years later. And Dolly, too, knew he was going to stick around.
In an interview with People, the country singerrecalled their initial days of dating. “When I met my husband, he wanted to take me out to dinner. He pulled up to the drive-in window and got our food at McDonald’s,” recalls Parton about their early courtship. “We know a few little places we can go without being bothered. He only likes to go to places where he can be comfortable!”
Two years later, just before she released her first album, she tied the knot with Dean with her mom as the only witness. Dolly was an upcoming star and Dean knew her potential. He stood by her and supported her through everything. Though he was the husband of an iconic star, Dean preferred to remain in the background. According to Town and Country Magazine, Dean once told his wife while on the way back from a red carpet event, "Dolly, I want you to have everything you want, and I'm happy for you, but don't you ever ask me to go to another one of them dang things again!"
They might not be seen together much but it definitely works for the two. When asked about the success of their married life, Dolly says that they both appreciate each other whenever they get the chance to be together. "I always joke and laugh when people ask me what's the key to my long marriage and lasting love. I always say, 'Stay gone!' and there's a lot of truth to that.
"I travel a lot, but we really enjoy each other when we're together and the little things we do," said Dolly quoted Today.
In 2012, the legendary singer even released a song called "From Here to the Moon and Back" that she dedicated to her husband. "I picked my husband, who I love, and I thought, 'Well, I’ll write some beautiful song about him,'" said Dolly, quoted Oprah Magazine. Even after spending decades together, couple has never forgotten the importance of stopped celebrating their love for each other in the smallest of ways. In 2016, the singer and her husband renewed their vows at the occasion of their 50th anniversary. "If I had it to do all over, I'd do it all over again, and we did," said Dolly quoted Taste of Country.

They may not share their love for music but Dolly says "I know every line in his face and he knows every hair in my wig," she said. "(He's) not particularly (a fan of my songs), but he loves me. He loves me," quoted Today.
