Parents Shocked And Outraged After Noticing A Horrific Detail In A Video From Their Kid's Daycare

The incident came to attention after the parent of a 2-year-old watched its live stream.

A daycare center in Georgia was accused of racism after a parent watched the live stream of how caregivers were feeding the kids. As per CBS46, Kids ‘R’ Kids located in Roswell, came under fire when a parent identified as Adryan McCauley accessed the live stream to check on his kid. To his surprise, the caregivers were seen feeding the White kids before the Black kids. McCauley, who is the parent of a 2-year-old was shocked to see his kid waiting while the White children were having their lunch.

"They were skipping all of the black kids it seemed like. All the white kids got their lunch, and all the black kids had to wait. From the videos and pictures that we saw today, we are just completely disturbed," said McCauley.

Disturbed by the scene, McCauley took a screenshot from the live stream. It showed White kids being served food on tables while the others were waiting for their turn. Shortly after, infuriated by the screenshot, a family member of McCauley went to pick up the kid from the daycare. Though the family member raised their concerns to the daycare authorities, the family did not receive a proper explanation. Mom went and picked him up immediately, and the director said 'I'm not really sure because I'm not in the classroom, maybe it's a dietary thing," recalled McCauley.

Consequently, the family shared the snaps of the live stream on Instagram. The snaps appalled people.

"This is truly unbelievable. You better know this won’t be the last time you hear from me on this. Why does every white kid have their food? Not one black child has food in front of them! Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism! The post continued: In the year 2021, this is truly unbelievable. As Blacks, we always strive to send our kids to schools in Suburban areas, but I’m telling you first hand that is not always best. This is not a black or white issue this is simply wrong! kidsrkids corporate I’ll be waiting for feedback from your cooperate office on this," wrote one.

Soon, the snap invited the attention of Kids 'R' Kids CEO and president, David Vinson. In a statement addressing the issue, he corroborated that the company was cutting ties with the franchise.

"The interactions captured on video by one of our families, yesterday, is disturbing and not in accordance with the inclusive culture that we promote at Kids ‘R’ Kids amongst our families, their children, or our staff," said Vinson. He continued, "After further review and much consideration of the photo/video in question, our company has decided to terminate that franchisee’s Kids ‘R’ Kids contract and branding, effective immediately, leaving them to operate independently."

He also issued an apology to the families impacted by the daycare's actions. "We apologize to the family, the community, and all of those impacted by this situation and will use this as a learning tool to remind our Kids ‘R’ Kids staff on the importance of diversity and inclusivity. As a result of this decision, our corporate office will assist any displaced families with locating preschool options in their respective area," said Vinson.

Meanwhile, during an interview with CBS46, Vinson said that he hadn't watched the complete video.  "I wish that everybody would be able to see the video in entirety first and not just a snapshot. We wanted to make sure our families know that this is not what we are about," he said. He continued, "Perception is, unfortunately, reality, and with the cancel culture, unfortunately, it's the perception."

The director and owner of the former Kids R' Kids Historic Roswell location, Dee Gillespie also responded to the event. He referred to the act as "random" and said, "..we believe if the parents viewed the videos they would understand. I wish they could see the compassion we have."
