Zach Kincaid lost not just one but two people when a drunken driver crashed into his pregnant wife's car in 2018. 29-year-old Krystil was eight months pregnant at the time and was trapped inside her "partially on fire" Chrysler minivan. A day later both Krystil and her unborn daughter were pronounced dead. Kincaid is a father to a then 11-year-old daughter and two sons aged eight and four with his deceased wife. He also has a stepchild who was 14 at the time, reports The Daily Mail.
Kincaid laid his wife and their unborn daughter to rest on September 26. He took to Facebook to share their story, along with heartbreaking images. He explained: A drunk driver speeding down a two-lane highway at 85+mph in the wrong lane around a blind corner destroyed my family. The max sentence for killing my wife and daughter is 10 years max. The state of California doesn't think there was intent, but I know driving recklessly in that manner, he didn't intend anything good... my daughter's due date was October 9th, a 36 week old fully developed baby isn't considered a person in the state of California. How do I explain to my children this injustice. My children and I have never felt so disposable... Look at the devastation left behind that is my family and tell me it isn't time for a change... imagine if this was your family... Who will fight with me for change? Who will spread this like wildfire? Who will write their representatives and demand change?? We cannot as a society look the other way any longer. Driving drunk is intent.

The person who was behind the wheel was former professional boxer Marcos A. Forestal who suffered minor injuries and was walking near his wrecked car live-streaming the crash on Facebook. In a video that has since been deleted, he showed the condition of his wrecked car, saying, "I had an accident. Guys, look at what happened to me. Man, a car crossed in front of me. Look at my car guys." According to PEOPLE, the Helmet Police Department revealed that "Forestal displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was arrested." He was sentenced to 10 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter. He'd previously pleaded not guilty.
What's more heartbreaking is that Zach Kincaid was speaking to his wife when the crash occurred. “The sound still haunts me. I hear it in my head,” Kincaid told reporters, according to CBSLA. “The scream she let out, it was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever heard.” Speaking of Forestal he added, “I saw arrogance, I saw no remorse, I heard blame passed,” said Kincaid. “He didn’t even go over there and try to open the door. He didn’t go over there and apologize. He didn’t go over there to see or do anything. The amount of anger and disappointment in his humanity is undescribable [sic],” Kincaid continued. He later started a petition to force the state's representatives to rethink drunk-driving penalties. 2,09,548 people have signed so far.
