Woman Intentionally Coughs Into 1YO Baby's Face Because She Was Annoyed With Baby's Mom At Supermarket

The mother was shocked by the incident. She accused the woman of being a racist.

When adults have a disagreement, the best way to resolve it is to have proper communication. However, some people chose to involve innocent children in the situation.

With the pandemic in place, safety guidelines like social distancing, and wearing a mask in public are mandatory. People are afraid and paranoid about the number of cases reported in the country. But that is not an excuse to put a little baby's life in danger.

According to ABC News, on 12 June 2020 at approximately 5:25 p.m, a white woman in her 60s was standing in line at the Yogurtland establishment. A mother along with her baby in a stroller was waiting behind the woman for her turn. Moments later, the elderly woman became upset with the mother because she was not maintaining social distancing. She got into an argument with her but the events followed were unpredictable and appalling.

Instead of talking it out to the woman, the furious senior citizen went to the child's stroller and coughed directly at the baby's face.

The protective mother immediately covered the baby with the hood of the stroller. The surveillance camera footage showed the woman remove her face mask just to do this heinous act. She is then seen walking out of the establishment unapologetically.

"The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was upset the female was not maintaining proper social distancing, so the suspect removed her face mask, got close to the baby’s face, and coughed 2-3 times," said Sergeant Enrique Garcia, in a press release from the San Jose Police Department, according to ABC News.

An investigation into the case is ongoing and the police have asked people to notify them if they find the suspect responsible for this insensitive and evil action.

The San Jose Police Department put a description of the woman based on the footage obtained from the shop. They stated that she was of medium build in her 60s. She was seen wearing a long sleeve shirt with gray vertical lines along with white dress pants and patterned tennis shoes. They added that she was also wearing a  gray bandana and had glasses.

Anyone with information can contact  Detective Dan Bowman of the San Jose Police Department's Assaults Unit at 408-277-4161, according to Fox News

Meanwhile, the mother involved in the case stated that she believes the woman's action was linked to her race. "I believe this woman may be racist because the family in front of her is white. Me and my grandma are Hispanic and she started telling me about my distance and harassing me and my son once I started speaking Spanish to my grandma," Mireya Mora, the mother of the baby.

She recalled the incident and said the woman's action was deliberate. "Coughing on someone's face. She did it on purpose it's not like she did it on accident, oh cough, cough - no she purposely coughed on my son's face," said the concerned mother, according to ABC News. She said that the woman was angry with her after she felt they were too close in line.

"It happened so quick I was in shock. She got close, she took off her mask, and she coughed three times super hard on my son's face,"  said the mother. The mother then informed that the baby developed a slight fever after the incident. However, she stated that his overall health is fine.

A little innocent kid who had no idea of the situation was put at risk because of a petty adult's actions. That this atrocity has joined the long line of insensitivity that has been reported in the past is perhaps the most devastating.
