Couple Swindel Public Out Of $4550 By Using Photos Of Their KIDS & Asking For Money To Help Them Through Christmas

Ryan Rodgers and Jenny Grimes created a GoFund Me page asking people to help them through Christmas. However, their family warned the public from the "scam."

People often sympathize with those in need. They even try to make contributions that could ease their lives a bit. However, taking advantage of this kindness is the worst thing anybody could do. One couple from Liverpool decided to use their children to gain the pity of people.

According to The Sun, Ryan Rodgers and Jenny Grimes created a GoFund Me page to ask people to help them buy Christmas gifts for their seven children. The couple claimed that the family was forced to survive on $624 after their Universal Credit payment was slashed. They added that they were forced to rely on charities, food banks and friends to feed their kids.

Their story gained the attention of people and the couple received $4550 to help them through Christmas. However, several family members of the couple have come forward accusing them of conning the public using their children.

"I'm ashamed of my daughter. This is fraud and I can't believe they have stooped so low as to use the kids in this way. I am totally disgusted. The money won't go towards Christmas and the children, it will be used to buy drink and drugs," said Shelly Grattan, the mother of Jenny.

She even urged people not to contribute to their GoFund Me appeal. "I would urge people don't donate to this GoFundMe page as it's a scam," said the frustrated mother. She continued, "My grandchildren have been named and shamed all over media for their parent's sake. Using the children to gain pity and money is appalling."

The mother confirmed that the family was not struggling and had enough money from discretion housing payments, a bond scheme, and advanced rent. She added, "They spent it on clothes for the kids, a big tattoo for Jen, drink, and drugs. They've also used the money to take them to see Frozen 2."  She went on to state that her son-in-law was known to have a habit of spending everything on drinks and drugs. "I have heard that he got freebies off Facebook and sells them on selling sites to fund his drink and drug habits. He always goes to bright house, perfect home, etc and gets finance on goods and sells them on Facebook or privately."

Meanwhile, Jenny's sister Joanne Grimes said that the couple split after Christmas. She informed that the fundraising plot instigated by Ryan was the reason behind their split. "Jenny and Ryan aren't together now and he is living on his own. I'm relieved. Although I know it will be hard for Jenny I think she is far better off on her own," stated the sister. Joanne also said that Jenny has made a donation to a charity since the split.
