The couple did not care to find an alternate caretaker for the kids.
A newborn baby requires the continuous care and attention of their parents, irrespective of night and day. While most parents understand this and fulfill their responsibilities, some forget it all for their selfish needs. A couple from Russia shocked the world after they left their 16-weeks-old twins at home for days without any supervision just to go partying.
According to Daily Mail, 23-year-old Margarita Yanayeva and her partner, 35-year-old Alexey left their newborn girl and boy at home without bothering to have anyone attend to them for four continuous days. The couple from Vilyuchinsk told their friends that their children were in the hospital and were being treated for coronavirus. Unshamed of their lies, they went ahead and partied. The incident came to light after the grandmother of the twins tried to contact the couple.

The grandmother tried getting in touch with the couple numerous times but her efforts were in vain. Knowing that their location was under lockdown, the grandmother started worrying. She then got in touch with the police. Reportedly, the cops found the babies locked in the apartment by the mother and her partner, Alexey.
"In the course of four days they were not feeding the children, and did not arrange alternative care for them," said a source, according to Daily Mail. Instead, the kids were "subjected them to hunger, did not ensure hygiene, leaving the minors were in a socially dangerous state," according to an investigation source. The cops then took the kids to a hospital in Russia’s Kamchatka region.
The Mirror reported that the grandmother was the one who found the twins in a "gravely emaciated" condition. It also stated that the baby boy died after falling into a coma. Meanwhile, the baby girl is still fighting for her life and is in severe condition

As for the irresponsible couple, they are facing criminal charges for neglecting their kids and failing to carry out their parental responsibilities. They have also been charged for putting the lives of their kids in danger. If the couple is proven guilty of their child's death, they will face up to 20 years in prison.
While you may think this incident is one of a kind, many tales of irresponsible parents have been reported in the past. A 23-year-old Anthony Jose Archibeque-Martinez and 26-year-old Elizabeth Archibeque-Martinez from Arizona locked up their two children, a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old in their closet for a month without food.
The police that got a call regarding an unresponsive child found the 6-year-old dead. He was found malnourished and showed no signs of trauma. Though the police tried to save his life, they were too late.
The police then questioned the parents regarding the act. They stated that the kids were locked in the closet as a form of punishment. Apparently, "they were stealing food by sneaking out at night when the parents slept" according to Arizona Central.
The parents also agreed on the decision not to feed their children at times. It was also found that their brutality towards their children was supported by their grandmother. 50-year-old grandmother Ann Marie Martinez did not raise her voice against the treatment. Instead, she sided with the parents and contributed to the death of the innocent boy.
Upon investigation, the couple along with the grandmother was taken to custody on suspicion of first-degree felony homicide. Besides, they also face charges for child abuse. The couple also had other children. The 7, 4, and 2-year-olds were taken into safe custody by the Arizona Department of Child Safety after the arrests were made.
There are also incidents of parents giving alcohol to their newborn just to go out for parties. Nadezhda Yarych, the mother of 8-month-old Zakhar was reported to give alcohol to her kids just to avoid him from being a hindrance. The kid eventually died, according to the Daily Mail.
